I'm getting the larger injectors because they're currently running 20% overduty veruss stock, which is a bit much, also I'll need them if I never go to a low boost turbo setup.
in case anyones wondering, I would save my money on the cams. I only netted 3hp peak(...damn it)
BUT...and heres the nice part, you'll notice on my dyno chart before(see the sticky) the KA's power falls off fairly drastically after 5300 rpm, with the JWT cams it doesnt fall off nearly as bad. I netted between 8-16hp after 5600rpm, and the power keeps up strong until about 6800 (verus the drop at 5500, the a worse drop off at 6k undert stock cams)
I didnt lose any lower end hp, and the torque band is still vey strong.
also, witht he lighterweight valve train componenets and freer flowing cams, the car revvs much easier, and freely(especially in the upper RPMS) and..well..its just fun to run a KA out to 7k and still have the power to do it!
worth the nearly 1500 dollars in parts and labor?....I doubt it. but I love the much improved upper RPM power(which everyone knows is the KA's weak point) and the easier revving/cooler sounding KA.
cost breakdown:-Cams: 500-Cam gears: 140-Valve springs, etc: 320 -Walbro 255lph fuel pump: 105-370cc injectors: 100-1.5 hours of dyno turning: 180 dollars-Install of all the above: 700 dollars (YOU try putting in valve springs and retainers by yourself without the head off.....lol)
total cost: 2045 dollars....
now obviously you can save a bit by doing it yourself..me? I dont trust myself with engine internals...I'm a suspension guy.
