Well, I headed out this afternoon to go wash my car at a friends place, and all is normal and good (except for the fact that my car isn't tuned for sh*t). So, about half way there, it begins to develop a bit of a miss that is intermittant and seems to clear up after a few seconds of heavier throttle. By the time I get to my buddies house, it's doing it about 80% of the time. So, I park it, check under the hood for anything obviously amiss (no pun intended) and find nothing, other than my electric fan wire has come loose, but that is unrelated. So, I get ready to go, crank her up, she runs fine. Pull out of his place, proceed hard through the first 2 gears, runs fine, and I figure everything is OK. Then about 3 seconds later, she's missing again, as has been ever since. I've been checking ECU wires where my AVC-R is hooked up, and they all seem to be fine. Took the coilpack plugs loose and it appears as though the #4 cylinder is at fault....you guys got any ideas as to what I can check? I just put new spark plugs in a few days ago, NGK iridiums, which the instructions said not to gap, so I didn't. Perhaps they're too warm a plug or something and are fouling up??! I dunno, I might have to switch some coilpacks around and see if it's just a bad pack. Lemme know if ya'll have any ideas...

When my car misfired it was because the #4 plug was not torqued right, it was also a hot plug and all my others were cold. Also there was an exhaust leak out of the manifold at #4 due to a broken stud. Try gapping them to the proper level and see what happens.

I do have an exhaust leak somewhere that's gotten pretty bad in the last week, wonder if that has anything to do with it?!? The plugs said not to gap them because of the thin or fragile electrode. Also, all the plugs are the same temp, a 6, and my buddy just tightened them elbow tight.

misfiring may be good for you, but bad to others.

yeah, get that exhaust leak fixed pronto. Was doing the same thing for me, and was better after the leak was fixed.

It looks like a dead coilpack right now. I switched the #1 and #4 packs and now the #1 cylinder isn't firing. But, the thing I don't get is why isn't my car backfiring like hell if a jug isn't getting any fire???

Got 'er fixed. Easy fix of the year. The 'bad' coilpack had a prong that was bent back inside so that it wasn't getting a ground or something, i forget which prong it was. So, bent it back into place, and voila! However, that doesn't change the fact that my JIC manifold seems to have cracked at a bend in the pipe, and NOT at a weld! :(
