just rebuilt the motor, had a place do the head. they timed hte motor wrong so i was a tooth off. anyways. we got on the dyno before we knew this, and with a gt3076, full engine rebuild, hks cams, its only making 160hp with 14 psi what the f*** right?
so i checked cam timing, saw it was a tooth off fixed it. only making 160 with 11 now.. what the f*** be the problem here..ignition timing, like base timing?
im running nistune, type 1 board. japanese engine. 8 port.
tbhats only at 6500 or so.. whats going on here..

Similar thing for me. Based on how I'm doing against cars with known HP/weight, I don't think I have more than 200hp, crank. Running a T3/T4 at 15psi (ebay T3/T4, but still...), I expected more. 1.6 VTi Hondas have more oomph than this at just 11 psi.
(reflashed ECU, AFRs are spot-on 12.7 all the way. Fuel map was tuned on the street w/ AFR gauge, ignition retard was done by rule of thumb. Compression 150psi on all cylinders.)

How much hp does it cost, if base timing is off by 2-3 degrees?

i fugred it out. one of my vaccuum lineswas hooked up to the secondary butterflies causing them to lock at 25 percent open.

That would restrict power considerably, LOL. What's it making now, or did you take it back to the dyno?

That wouldn't be the overall cause of that 160hp stuff. Even if the engine pulled vacuum and caused the butterfly valves to close, positive boost pressure opens them right back up from around 3500rpm all the way through the rpm band. You got tuning issues "period". Whoever is doing the tuning is obviously not familiar with tuning this motor because even on it's worst day, it should be producing more than 160hp, especially with all those additions. Again, adding vacuum to that actuator will not affect power in the upper rpm on the turbocharged variant. Now on the aspirated CA18DE, adding straight vacuum to the actuator will affect the way the engine performs throughout.

Vacuum leaks (of which there can be many if you haven't replaced all hoses and made sure they're the appropriate size (i.e. don't try to clamp slightly too large hoses down) can cause all kinds of tuning problems (lean sometimes, rich others, depending on if idling / off boost or in boost).

Bad coilpacks are a frequent issue as well, causing incomplete or lack of combustion (sometimes just under boost) leading to richness.

People have often mis-set the fuel pressure too, it's 36.3 whereas for most other Nissans it should be 43.4.

But probably the most common mistake is ECU tuning, especially those who slap on a KA MAF thinking it is same as CA. Make sure your MAF and ECU are truely meant for each other!

Perhaps you should further detail your setup, especially with regards to airflow sensor, fuel injectors, and tuning details.
