well first cover the basics....
clean the throtle body and throtle plate (in tb) almost spotless with tb cleaner or i hear brake clean works well also (just be carefull not to spray too too much, you might flood the engine, a little much'll just burn up durring combustion. just rev the **** out of it after cleaning if it's hard to start.
if you suspect the fuel pump... rip out the back seat and get in there w a voltmeter and start probin' ****. (but it doesn't sound like the fuel pump)
check out your air filter.. if that **** is nasty, black, has bird feathers or insects lodged in it.... replace it. (if you have a cold air intake, clean the piping on the inside as well if it's oily from blow-by or too much oil on the filter). you need air flow so your car can breathe.. if there's restriction there... it would be the same as if someone were choking you.
if the MAF is dirty; clean it. MAF cleaner works just dandy for its purpose.
check your system vaccum. i'm pretty sure you don't own a vaccum gauge, as most people generaly don't, pop off the vaccum hose going to the brake booster (behind brake master cylinder). put your thumb at the end of the hose and make sure it's suckin better than your gf. (while you do this- engine must be running). if it feels strong then you're good.. if it feels really weak, then inspect all hoses for possible leaks and cracks.
injector time-- how many miles are on your engine? over 100k? you can either run an injector cleaner thru the fuel line or throw in an additive in the gas tank to clean them... i don't use additives personally, but i hear from multiple users that STP makes a good one.
if you're still havin trouble w your engine, check your timing and whatnot.. a tune-up could help.
also kinda sounds like your battery got disconnected while you're driving (due to your engine feeling like it's gonna cut out coming to a stop). but i'm sure that's not it however just to be safe, check the voltage of your battery and alternator when car is off and while car is running. batt=12.5V not running. batt=13.5-14.5V while running. check voltage at alternator from the power B+ terminal (usually covered w a gray or red piece of plastic or rubber) and the ground (which it the alternator housing)... should be the same as the voltage you checked at the battery.. also if you're terminals are corroded.. please, for the better of the car and for humanity as a whole, clean them. just use baking soda and water and scrub scrub scrub w a wire brush, if they're bad, replace the terminal and/or cable. your car needs electricity like you need blood.
(sorry if i'm making you sound like a noob. i just have no clue who you are and what you already know

)
