I have a redtop SR, and I've been trying to figure out what's going on with it for quite a while now. I'm extremely confused, so any input would be appreciated.

-I'm running super rich, black smoke and fuel shooting from exhaust.-Car has trouble reving up to 3000rpm, and will not go any higher.-When I first put it in, I was getting trouble codes for ignition, MAF, CAS, and knock sensor.-Knock sensor was fixed, CAS was throwing codes because it was unplugged to prime the engine before first startup, ignition was throwing codes because it was unplugged.-MAF just fixed itself I guess. I tested power, ground, and signal to the ECU... plugged it in... and the code went away.

Now I know for sure that my o2 sensor is dead. But I've heard that the o2 would not send me into limp mode. Everything is leading me to believe the MAF is the culprit, but I'm not getting any trouble codes for it. Anyone have any opinions?

I'm assuming a fresh swap? Have you timed the engine yet? Hooked up the fuel rail with the feed to the rear of the rail? I forget what you should be getting for a voltage range from the maf at idle, but you can check that and compare it to what the fsm says it should be.

Yeah it's a fresh swap. I just bought a timing light, but I didn't have time to check it this weekend. I wasn't in the mood to remove the fan and shroud.

I guess I haven't OFFICIALLY checked if I hooked up the lines backwards. But that doesn't seem like something I'd mess up. And it doesn't really sound like it would cause my problem. I've printed out the FSM pages on testing the MAF, but I didn't get that taken care of this weekend either. Just wondering if it sounds likely.

I have a spare MAF coming this week hopefully.

Got a new MAF, there's no change at all. Is it possible that I have a bad ECU?

Edit: Also, I set the timing correctly. Put in a new O2.

Set TPS as good as I could, it's turned FULLY counter clockwise and it's not perfectly within spec. It's really close though, IIRC it's within .05 volts at idle. When I watch the multimeter while turning the throttle there are no flat lines, it's smooth all the way through.

Just for future reference, the problem here was that my ECU wasn't functioning correctly. There was no way to test the ECU, I even opened it up to look for visual damage... nothing. If you're having a similar problem, test with a friend's ECU.
