Hi im brandon,
I drive a 1991 Nissan 240SX fastback. I bought it back in January. I have always wanted a 240SX. But I would like for it to run right. Im 15 and im trying my hardest to give this 240SX the TLC that it deserves. Well when I first got it home i heard the marble whooshing in a cup sound under the valve cover. I searched to find out about the timing chain guide removal for the upper and lower chains. I proceeded to do everything as the instructions stated. I got everything back together with no problem. Then I searched again to see how to set timing to TDC( sadly, that was the one thing that I didnt do before I took everything apart). I found my answer by setting my cams just like the cams on the JWT cam picture I have seen around here. I set my distributor to TDC to match the cams. It started but started rough. So I took the distributor and rotated it while the car was running so that it could try and find the correct position. Well...the distributor is tilted all of the way to the left and it still cuts off if I do not rev it up a few times and when I try to move it to the right at all the car slows down like it wants to die. This is my first car and im learning a step at a time. I am just stumped and dont know what to do...please help...
1) How do I get the timing set back to before the removal of the timing chain guides?2)Should I take my distributor and turn it 1 tooth ahead or one tooth back then rotate the distributor to see the effect?3)Would anyone happen to know how much it cost to get you injectors cleaned at a local shop?
all of your answers are greatly appreciated and I have searched through archived threads and recent threads for answers.
