whats up everyone, this is my first post here althought ive been reading a bit.. i just recently got my 92 240 fb and ive found it has a few problems.... my one main concern right now is that 1st gear boggles and it feels like i have absolutly no torque... i thought about giving it a tune up so i changed the oil today (castrol 10w-40) i know i should've used mobil but everywhere sold out of mobil 10w-40.. should i use the 0w-40? i also bought a purolator fuel filter and NGK plugs and i already have norology wires but i havent installed the filter or the plugs.. do you guys know what might be causing my hesitation? honestly it feels like i have no power until top end.. sometimes when i turn on the car ill rev it and it chokes. i really dont know whats going. also, i wanna change cap and rotors but i dont know how to go about doing that. do i buy aftermarket performance cap and rotors (if that even exists)? currently the car has a purolator air filter which isnt that dirty so i didnt buy a K&N one... but any help is greatly appreciated. thanks

Hmm.....Does your flywheel only catch on after about 3,000rpms?I remember when I smoked my clutch, the flywheel wouldn't grab until about 3-5,000rpms.In this case, you'll need to machine your flywheel (replacing is recommended), and replace the pressure and clutch plates.

The description you gave sounds like it's really early in the problem though.Of course, I'm pretty drunk right now, so I might have just mis-diagnosed altogether :)

ps: My typing is perfect, I know everyone's jealous :D

does your car sound like a weed whacker when you rev it after turning it on? i had this problem and changing the spark plugs/wires helped that. rotor and dist. cap aren't that hard to change. where the wires plug in, just unscrew the 2 screws holding the cap, unscrew the one holding the rotor, and firmly pull the rotor off. there are others who have written up things to check for rough idles and hesitation. you might want to do a search for that. hope this helps. i'm new to this stuff also, so don't take my word as absolute. good luck.
