I am looking at cars as you all know. I have an couple new cars in mind. My friend is willing to sell his 4age motor with 20,000 miles that has 240hp and redline at a 11,000 for around $2,000. It very special. I found an ae86 shell for $300. But there is an 240sx (nonsr20det)1995 in mind to for $5,000 with 77,000 miles. Which one.

86 = pricey parts, KA is the cheapness for the most part and the S14 is the sexy, also has less chance of rust to worry about and you're probably looking at an SR5 shell which requires a bit of work to convert to a gt-s setup, for the money and ease aswell as the style, I'd go 240.

the car already running and relatively low miles is a plus too:)

If your looking for something sporty for the road, but fun for the track go with the 240. A 4age is definately a fun motor, very cool in that it isn't transverse and it has a crazy high redline, but it's going to be much more expensive in the long run to build it up. Buy the 240 and you can have a car that runs great (assuming this one DOES run great) that you can add alot on to later in the game. If this is your first car then definately stay clear of the 86. Project cars kick ***, but they can be black holes of time and money...

Unless that 4AGE is turbo, it probably doens't have 240hp, your friend is probably messin with you (unless you mean at the crank). Squeezing 200 at the wheels is pushing it.

I'd get the Corolla.

Dude, Alex, you're back? Okay, go to wherever the Atlanta Journal Constitution resides in your house, find the classifieds, and look. YEAH! Exactly what I was looking for 4 months ago is in there... crap... I forgot that you have a while to go before you actually get a car... Anyway, '98 240SX SE, 70k, 5speed, $8000 (red, if that matters)...

Anyway, I had to get that out... The 86 is going to be cheaper, true, but the probability of body rust and bad title and so forth is also going to go up. Not a good first car. Heck, the 4age should definitely wait until you've proven you can handle a stock motor (or lightly modified OEM motor, like mine is/will be for a while). I can see you putting that car around a tree, and as funny as it would look (and as much as everyone who knows you expects it anyway), it would suck majorly, for you AND the car. Anyway, I say 240, keep it stock for a while (say... til you're 18, but that's in a perfect world, so at LEAST until you hit 17), then drop the 4age in, I'll even help if I'm not at college yet.

Haha, anytime Captain Columbia. Let me reiterate it one more time, DON'T drop the 4age in for at least a year, if not 2 or 3, simply because more power= more potential for your car to be a nice telephone pole-adournment, and that's not cool. 130whp feels plenty fast for someone with learning to do, trust me :D (though that doesn't mean I don't want more...)
