Car Head Unit replacement HELP

Hey guys, just been researching this and still am lost. Does replacing the factory head unit make a difference in sound quality if im already using aftermarket speakers? I want clarity and decent bass, already changed the speakers to pioneer ones, and was wondering if changing the factory radio was worth it at all? Thanks for the help!
