So I went out to go buy food and walk around my car to see my rear bumper scratched. I suspect one car because I notice on the black plastic there is a tint of blue on it and the car behind me that could had hit it is also a light blue car. I am pissed off and I only owned the car for about 2 months.

I just left a note on their car to contact me if they don't, I will report it because I have their plate numbers. This is in a complex, I was wondering if I should report it to the head office or ask my housing administration (student housing for me for school). Not sure how to deal with it since this is the first time. GRRRRRRR

Good Luck You have no proof. You will have to eat it and suck it up. You guys need to pay more attention to where you park, if you park in a parking lot around a lot of other cars expect to get door dings. I always park as far away as possible from any other cars.

Not true, mostly. That blue paint could be the key. Take tons of pics of your car where it was hit, then take tons of the blue car! even if he gets it fixed before this is investigated, that could be your ticket to free repairs. good luck!

Well, I went to get some stuff from my car and look at it again and it is for sure a tint of light blue. the car behind me is the only blue car on the lot where I am at.

Here is a picture of the car and if you look at the black plastic in this picture it kinda show the tint of blue

I am not sure if that scrape on their car was there already or not.

edit: Okay so I decided to take the photos into photoshop and got the eye dropper. The mark on the black plastic is a tint of blue!

Man, you ain't kidding. I park so far away from the front door of most stores I've lost 10 pounds from walking through parking lots in the 2 months I've owned my Coupe.

BUSTED! ive seen this a million times. PIC 1: pay attention to the two horizontal scrapes, the ones that roughly looklike this: -- -------

PIC 2: on the blue car, there are also two horizontal scrapes ON THE CORNER. this explains why the scrapes on your car are longer in length.

Conclusion: the long scrapes on your car and the short ones on theres are because the blue car was in motion and turning when it hit you. Thats why theres a scrape on either side of the corner.

Also I ran a line through the black paint on their car. The curving line means they were turning into you, which supports the fact that this happened to their car in a parking lot exactly like the one you're in.

Also, the line keeps going far longer than I'm used to seeing, which means that after the initial impact, they kept driving more, usually when this occurs it means one of two things: they were going too fast and couldnt hit the brakes in time, which cant happen it the small parking lot, or more likely, they were driving drunk which is another reason they probably havnt contacted you about it.

AND THE BIGGEST PIECE OF PROOF: thats your black paint on their blue car, and thats their blue paint on your black car. CASE CLOSED!

If your wondering, Ive done this before. This is my coupe after a party when a truck hit it, and I tracked them down when the stupid gilbert pd couldnt (Im with chandler, and theyve got a really bad reputation. They're the reason people hate cops.

I went out a few hours ago and it seem like the paper I left on their windshield is still there.

I have taken pictures of the license plate also and will be contacting my insurance on Monday if they don't contact me tomorrow. I am going to send my insurance company the proof of pictures and I am going to file a report with SDPD as well.

The hit you got is bad. Lucky mine were just scratches.

Sorry to hear about your car man. Hopefully you'll find the jerk that did it. It's amazing how other people have no respect for other people's property!

Oh, that's nothing, I'm glad it wasn't worse. Get yourself some Nu Finish Scratch Doctor (I think that's what it's called) from Checkers or any Auto Parts Store. Comes in a small orange bottle, follow the instructions and it'll buff right out. It does suck that you'll have to do the work but it's good to get this stuff for other light scraps and such.

edit: Oh, sorry, our internet here in Iraq sucks and it hadn't loaded the picture where the paint was missing on your bumper. Sorry, still some good stuff though. That sucks, sorry dude.

Yea, I usually park away from other cars but for student housing we only get 2 spots. The other spot where I would prefer to park was already taken so I had use the other spot.

The note on the car seem to still be there. If they do not call me today I am calling up my insurances (which I wanted to avoid). I have pictures and their license plate for proof.

What suck is that I live in San Diego and my Insurance office is back home in Long Beach where my parents stay. (about 2 hour drive) Not only that I have school starting tomorrow.

Hope they call because I rather get cash in hand then take it through insurance. BTW, how much do you guys think the damage to fix is?

UPDATE:

So I finally got a call around 10pm. She claim to not hit my car and that it could had been someone else. I tell her I have proof because of the blue paint and such and that she can come even see it but does not want to and keep claiming she didn't and she also did became speechless twice when I stated what happen and how it could happen. Also how I have pictures of the color paint just in case if the paint was to fade off my car. She then agree to go through insurance because of that and see from there.

A few minutes later from the call at 10:22pm her boyfriend calls me and apparently what she told him seem to be different. He is telling me I could had back into her car and I am like her car was not there that night and no scratch on my car that night. He is also saying "what you check your car everytime?" I told I do because I know my surrounding area. I also said the direction of the scratch clearly show it was back into.

We talk more and then said I'll be calling my insurance and telling them what I got.

10:38pm: She calls me again and now the story has change. She ask me when could the accident happen and I said between 1am-Saturday afternoon. Now she is telling me that on that night she was park in the other spot. (We get two parking spot in this complex) I got **** now this can screw me over, BUT now she mention that it could been her friend since she did come that night and was on that spot. She also said that her friend drives a blue car also.

Now, I have to wait till tomorrow after 5pm to see if it was her friend instead.

But now her, her bf and friend will be in this situation now. This is a bit fishy I don't really remember a blue car on the other spot because earlier that Friday I saw her roommate car which is a Scion xB and it is not blue. And usually the car she has is always in that spot since I move to that lot. Also what I find out fishy is that why didn't they tell me it the first time when they call. Why suddenly tell me the second time and now saying it was your friend.

Man, I hope this work into my favor because this completely suck.

Yea, I am thinking the same thing that those two are thinking of a way to get out of this but pictures say more than what comes out of their mouth. Plus to tell me she park somewhere else the second time instead of saying it the first time kinda already seem fishy.

Also she said she park on the other spot that Friday and did not leave Saturday at all. If she did why is her car there. If she didn't move at all her car should still be on the other spot and not there.

Don't worry man, you've got her. she admitted fault in the first call right? if it comes to it and shes still denying, your insurance will file a lawsuit and she will testfy if they do not settle, and if its proven her car hit you theres no way she can lie without going to jail. Just talk to insurance tomorrow, and do whatever you can to keep her bf outta the picture. He's not involved in the matter so don't talk to him on the phone and don't discuss the accident with him. It can only serve to cloud your memory even more.

Do this:

1: RIGHT NOW write down all details you remember on a peice of paper, they don't have to be the exact second or anything, just write down what you remember so you don't forget. what cars were there when you looked etc...

2:Relax. Getting stressed and coming up with theories wont help. just leave that to the police and insurance. The biggest thing you can do to help them get you fixed up is to preserve the memory in your head, and the evidence on your car.

The insurance will take samples of the paint on your car and hers. Next time you talk to her say "if you really didnt hit my car, then dont fix the scratch on your car so we can prove it wasnt you" then wait and see if its gone. If it is, document it, and take pics and write down the time you noticed it fixed.

I know it seems tedious and extreme, but if you do what I say you will get your car fixed for free! I promise!

Well, I lost the battle on this one.....

Made the report and everything and because of no witness and the fact she had a few of her friends that saw her during the time period.

Friends claim she was not there friday and didn't get back till saturday and did not leave at all meaning she never backed out. Her friend car which was also blue had no scratch mark at all.

Cops also said it would had just been my words against hers and that even with the damage we see on her car we are not certain if it was already there before because her car was already in a beat up state.

I also gave my story about what we talk on the phone and that because of that second spot that was open she could had been true. There is a lot more we discuss but in the end the conclusion was evidence was not good enough because apparently during 1am-4pm saturday any car could had came through there before she did.

Now I was wondering if anyone got the link to where I can get touch up paint for my car of the color and how to apply it.
