So my car is moving closer and closer to being stock.
1. just put my stockers back on for winter.
2. as some of you know my subwoofer wiring kit is real messed up.
3. my tail light overlays are peeling for the 3rd time! i give up on them.

Sorry for a pointless thread. I just had to vent. Mod's feel free to delete if needed.

yeah the only reason why i always did the vinyls was cause i didn't know if i was gonna keep the car or not. Now I'm sure that I will be so I'll probably paint them soon.

You can strip the spray off if you need to. I did it twice on my tails and once on my mirror side signals.

BUT, I would advise against the clear coat pictured above by Infiniti. I used the Rusto tint and then that same Rusto clear and it melted the tint right off. I dont know if I didnt let it dry long enough or what but it was terrible, like chemical reaction type s***. Actually...I probably just F'ed it up like I do every mod the first time around.

Diamond let me know if you need new cableage. Im still working Best Buy part time and have the hook up. You are close enough to drive to NJ right?

my gtr overlays have been on for about 5 months and still no peel...I wonder how long they'll last. Im a bit worried on painting them though, but it seems like it will prob do the trick.

Only issue with painting that I've had is that mine didn't pass the safety inspection since they don't reflect. I had to get some spares from the junk yard to put on to pass. :gapteeth:

I got lucky here. NJ just changed their regulations, the only thing inspection station inspects is emissions. Pretty sweet...

Whaaaat??? Beasy, i remember when i was in HS and I had to pay $200 to get someone to inspect my car with 5% tints in NJ... I guess NJ is becoming easier... Medical 420, lax on inspections, soon its going to be legal to conceal carry! lol jk

My car is going more and more stock but just because I am tired of tickets.

3-4 Tail light tickets
3 Window tint tickets
Numerous front license plate warnings
2 Head light tickets
Plus a flipped CF hood has put it back some.

Car still looks good but nowhere near where it used to be. I just miss my tails and windows, the hood I can live w/out.

I honestly think they did it because of budget cuts. I dont know where in NJ you were but all the stations by me worked like an assembly line with at least 5 or 6 people working the whole thing down the line. Now they probably need 2 at most, one to cap your exhaust and the other to print your new sticker. Dont get me wrong, you can still get tickets out the rear for tints and such, but at least you dont have to grease a private inspector to pass.

so they dont really pay attention to a window or taillight (such as overlays) tint?? just emission?

a buddy of mine mentioned a couple of months ago that in NJ they were in talks about allowing some level of tinting, but i guess its true now.

hmm interesting...i dont have to inspect til 2014, but still good to know

Correct...inspection in NJ checks nothing but emissions. BUT, you can still get nailed with tickets for tint, etc. I got a ticket for tint about 2 months ago, $55.00, statute is "Failure to maintain safety glass" LOL.
