Hey guys back from outer space here..... the car is flooding itself....

When we snap the throttle linkage the engine hesitates, almost stalls, anyone know why this is?
tps?
tps wiring? tps wiring is cracked I have siliconed it. I have a new maf aftermarket off ebay.

So why is it flooding itself, I asked my mechanic and he said he didn't know.

And now that we have been playing with it.....it wont turnover.

Thanks

Nick

Hi guys-

went to start the car yesteday and it wouldn't. Today it didn't want to start but I played with the gas pedal and untill it turned over then it wanted to die so I floored it and and then it was fine, as long as I kept my foot on the gas at all times. several times during the first 5 min of driving it wanted to stall out, I put my foot back on the gas and it was fine. after about 5 min I can drive normally.

Any ideas why this is happening? so far got no response from my last post, I am kind of desperate here as I have to be out of my apt today and I am not sure my car will start to get off the property.

The car has a new MAF off ebay, it is generic. I have been told the by Bergstrom Nissan my recalled harness (the real name escapes me at the moment) was replaced, they won't show me proof or tell me when it was done.

TPS looks original.

REALLY NEED SOME HELP GUYS, THANKS!!

Your thinking of the ptu but that wouldn't cause this. If it had fins on it and gray then it i the old style. New style is black/no fins. Check out the IACV. Also, get cleaning on some connectors. Bergstrom you say? Your from the fox valley? If so, check out wisconsinzcrew.......http://www.wisconsinzcrew.com/forum/index.php

What does the label on the MAF say? That could be a big factor in something being wrong. If it isn't the Nissan N62 MAF, it's not gonna run well.

Also, don't make another thread just hours after the original thread. A "bump" is acceptable. I've merged the two threads together.

Ok I got to the IACV and took off the top hose (the hose that is easy to get to) Sprayed some carb cleaner in there and it seemed pretty good for about 2 days then back to not wanting to start unless I give it gas and rev it.

So Should I try to take it off and clean it? and then put it back on? any websites that walk you through that? the part is around $300 so I am tryin to fix this on the cheap.

Also this car reeks of gas when it is colder then lets say 30 degrees outside.
Yes from the fox valley, I will check out that website thanks!

Sounds like you're running super rich, check your O2 outputs (Mode II test) and your coolant temp sensor outputs, both test procedures can be found in EF EC section in the FSM, starting on page 42.

cool thanks so you don't think its related to the IACV?

I have a coolant leak right now, but I keep it at the proper level.
maybe that is screwing something up?? any thoughts?

if the coolant gets too low then the coolant temp sensor (located in the top coolant pipe coming out of the block) gets super hot because it is not touching water/coolant but rather air, this causes the ECU to freak out and mess with your fuel, if it gets too hot it should go to limp mode but I cant really tell you much more without actually seeing the car and what ts doing. these cars are pretty complicated and a lot of systems are intertwined in through the ECU so one sensor or valve going bad or not getting correct readings can throw the whole car into freakout mode.

put the car in MODE II

2 codes: 13 = coolant sensor & 34 = dentonation sensor

I can find the sensors to buy, but I would like to replace the harnesses any one got part numbers out there?

Thanks

Well, if you wanna replace the Det sensor, that requires an upper and lower plenum pull, and it''ll still be next to impossible.

The coolant temp sensor plug is on the main engine harness, and can only be replaced by splicing a new connector on. You'd have to find a connector to splice on, as I don't think they sell them separately.

And just FWIW, the knock sensor isn't gonna be causing any of those problems. The coolant temp sensor, however, could be a major hiccup.
