I have a 1995 S14 base model that is mostly stock (KYB, Tiens, Wheels, K&N) and lately it has had couple of strange problems: 1) When driving, if I click on the high-beams the engine will studder a little bit, the lights come on REALLY bright, and then dim down to nearly low-beam brightness2) The tach hunts around all the time and sometime shoots up to the 12 o'clock position. Sometimes it drops dead to zero even while driving.3) Occasionally when I turn on the key, the only things that will work are the door chime, the head and tail lights (and presumably the brake lights but I haven't had anyone with me to help check that), and the hazard lights. The car won't start. After a few minutes it will start. This happens when the car is up to temperature.4) Yesterday I tapped the high-beams to signal someone to merge and the car hesitated a few times. Within a few hundred feet the motor shut out altogether. I switched the key off and back on while rolling but no luck. I then coasted off the shoulder, checked to see what electrical stuff would work (headlights, hazards, door chime) and what would not work (radio, cigar lighter (my Sirius is plugged in to it), heater blower motor, dash lights, starter). After making a lap around the car and sitting there a minute, I hit the key again and everything fired up like normal. I took the car home and swapped for another one. So far I have done these tests, all with favorable results:In-car tested and bench tested the alternatorIn-car tested the batteryRemoved, cleaned, and reinstalled the battery cablesCheck all the fuses and fusible links in the fuse box and the under-hood fuse box. Has anyone run across this in the past or have any idea where I could start looking for the problem? Thanks in advance, Brandon
