Car electronics problem..just replaced alternator and belt.?I have a 1991 Nissan NX2000 and all my interior electronics are out. I just replaced my alternator and belt because they went out yesterday.

I had to jump the car because the battery had died, but when it started, literally ALL the interior electronics wouldn't work. The speedometer, the RPMs, the radio, dash lights, engine temperature gauge...EVERYTHING.

They all worked before I replaced the alternator. I checked the fuses and they're fine. After the alternator went out, I started the car and ran it for a while just on battery until it died completely.

Also, when I replaced the alternator, at first the positive terminal of the alt. was touching the Ground a little bit, and the pos. battery cable smoked when it was connected. I fixed the positive terminal on the alternator and all was fine with the battery afterward. I don't think this is it, but I figured I'd mention it.

Does anyone have any ideas as to what the problem is?
