Do the car's electrical outlets work when the car is off?

Since its already jacked in the air and without a front passenger wheel and caliper, I don't want to have to start the car up like that if I can avoid it.

Tomorrow I'm going to go buy an electric impact wrench to unscrew the two big union bolts in the back of the caliper (the ones that keep it fixed to the rotor)

Do you think it will work? The torque settings for those bolts are 98ft/lb and that impact wrench is said to be able to "provides up to 250 ft/lb of torque to loosen or tighten lug nuts in four seconds" ?

It does look cheapo though...but if for 15$ it can do the job, I guess I won't complain lol.

An Impact Wrench powered by the 12v? While the car isnt running no less?I dont know anything about it really, but the knowing what an impact wrench does, i dont think itd be a good idea to try this.... what if it pops fuse etc before you are finished?

I missed the fact that its $15... Come on man... u know better lol!

I have an electric impact but mine plugs straight into the wall not into the car. I have had no problems out of mine.

lol... because its plugged into a wall!

Think of it like this.. theres gas powered leaf blowers, then theres electric ones...

What would one that plugged into the 12v work like?

i just think your askin for trouble... id much rather buy an expensive one at sears, use it, and return it

Well I bought the 15$ impact wrench and when I went to the car to try it out, I realized it was not going to fit. So I had to buy an extra 10 U-joint lol. can't believe how much they cost .Anyhow I'll try it out tomorrow.

i personally haven't had great luck with stuff that plugs into cig lighters, nor has anyone else i've known. a cell phone charger, ipod charger, charger, charger, etc. will do just fine.so far as power tools or compressors? they work to some degree, but not worth a damn and prolly not well enough to undo 98lb. torqued bolts.

what's so bad about using a manual wrench and socket anyway?

must we take your "man card" away mehdi?

breaker bar....use a heavy duty socket...a hollow pipe at end....and lean....wait...question is why are they so stuck>?unless..... lol!...too much mouse clickin on photoshop cupcake?....ha!seriously and no pun intended....stuck nuts aint a good thing....either over tourqd' or possible strip thread..id hit the bolts with wd40...let em soak abit then...hit manually... an impact gun may cause a bigger problem if there is one to begin with!

Same concept as stuck lugs nuts a such. Longer handle = more torque. After WD40 hit with hammer, like mentioned, and that should loosed the metal on metal contact for a clean release, and for god sakes don't put anything on with an impact wrench. Thats the quickest way to snap studs and sh*t.

or ask us and send 10$ + shipping and handling we could mail it down to you for prolly 15$ at the end of the day...LOL....but that 510$ sounds mighty tempting.....
