Yea, I read it. Here's the article. http://www.caranddriver.com/ar...ber=1

To tell you the truth, I own a 330i and I've driven a G35 when I took the Q for service. As far as a driver’s car, the 330i get the slight nod for me. The perfect match of engine and transmission, the precise steering, the fast acceleration, the balanced handling, the exhaust note that’s music to your ears, the looks. I can go on and on, but this car’s MSRP was around $42,000. It won’t make it in the compare test of $35,000. I got it for $36,000 because it was a year end leftover for 03. The thing with the G is that it’s the total package. Handling and acceleration is in par with the 330i, but you get more room and you can afford more options. The 330i that I have is fairly striped. I think the only options are auto, leather, xenon, arse heaters in the seats and that’s about it. For less money in the G, I can add NAV, XM, and even AWD. That’s where the G kicks arse over the Bimmer. This car was for my wife and I tried to talk her into a G but she didn’t even want to look at it. She hates my Q and figures the rest of the Infiniti cars are the same. I will tell you one thing though, when I had the loaner, and she drove it, she was more impressed with the G that before, but she likes her 330i better. When I’m due to replace the Q, and I don’t what to spend $50,000+ on a new M45, I might be getting a G35.

I often read that the 3-series has the more accurately balanced combination of look, feel, and responses... which takes years to fine tune, as well as a nicer interior. The G35 has the much lower price and generally better performance. And in my personal opinion, better looks.

Of course, I've never driven either one and I'm just echoing what I've read.

I can't knock the 330. It is a really nice car, but I don't think it is $8,000 nicer than a G35.

I agree.

I jack my moms 325i all the time, it's just really fun to drive. Even though it has less then 200 hp, if you keep the pedal floored, it feels like it accelerates more then sufficiently. The 330i is downright fast.

I wouldn't take a 325I over a G, simply because the G has way more power.. A 330, I'd buy the BMW

Look for about 10 years everyone tried to replicate the 3 series, and no one came close. Nobody could ever touch them in comparisons. With one car Infiniti has proven it can build a competitive car, which is very impressive

The 3 series is BMW perfection. Who knows if the next one will match it though. If they add the active steering and all the other garbage they may lose the mystique, like they did on the new 5

Here is a sweet 330CI convert I detailed a few days ago, these are very very nice cars, I love the looks and the handling is just great, just wish the price was lil lower, the owner is selling because he just purchased a Cayenne.

Ugh, a Cayenne! They'll wish they kept the BMW.

For once, I must agree with you. BMW is heading down a road of questionable styling and bad ergonomics that it will totally keep me away from future BMWs to come. This past weekend I went to a Lexus test drive event. They had comparison cars. One was the new 545i. You know I was going to test that baby. I got in the car. That I-drive thing is total crap that will cause so many accidents just from turning on your radio. I couldn't figure it out. The car did drive great, but all that money, forget about it.

The 330i is a considerable upgrade from the 325i. You get 17in rims, tighter suspension and that engine. Wow, I drove both and you feel the difference. The 330i is worth the extra money over the 325i.

Scary, considering that is a revision of the original IDRIVE system.

The 330i is worth the money over the 325i, and the M3 is worth the money over the 330

I think the current e46 M3 will be an alltime classic. Beautiful styling, great interior, incredible engine, it has it all.

This reviewer said it best ( I would say this is true of most BMWs)

There are faster, flashier cars for the money, but that isn't why BMW sells every M3 it can build. Those customers get th satisfaction not from being noticed, but from piloting an example of the best German automotive engineering has to offer.

I notice a few 2001s with new engines. They also mentioned BMW extended the warranty on all 2k1 M3s..

What did they revise in the following years for more engine safety? What was causing the original ones to go boom?

As are the E39 540i and M5. Why do they mess with perfection?

Oil Starvation!!!! Killed several early M3's until they redesigned something. Check the M3 boards...plenty of pics from owners who engines blew on them.

It's their whole free maintinace thing. They don't change the oid until 1 year or 15,000, My wife went in to the dealer to get an oil change, and we pay for it, the said like $200 for it. we told them, forget about it. Our free oil change is due in Nov. The service manager said, " You don't need and oil change. We use special BMW oil." Yea, BMW has their own oil refinery. My arse. This can't be good for the car. After this one, we'll find a place to get regular, 3000 mile oil changes.
