So I just got done installing the AEM cold air intake. It was the first time i've really ever touched anything under the hood of a car (hides in shame). That and the fact that a few parts in my car didn't match the included instructions AND the service manual made it a VERY difficult process. Has anyone noticed variations between their car and the parts depicted in the service manual?

The biggest difference was with the battery. The manual shows that there should be a brace over the battery holding it in. My battery had a very small bracket at the base of the battery in between it and some plastic towery thing (no clue what it is). Anyway, i was fortunate that my neighbor had a tool long enough to reach down to get it.

Should I be able to go to the dealership and request that my battery/brace be switched to match the service manual?

The MT had the other type of battery brace i think. And no, you can't request your battery brace to be changed.

The "other" being the brace over the top of the battery or the impossible to reach at the bottom of the battery?

The traditional brace on the auto's and the CVT's should be the bracket with two long hooks that goes all the way over the top of the battery. Your setup with the manual appearantly uses the alternative bracket. I don't know why they would do it differently, but you could probably purchase all the parts from the dealer to retrofeit it. Keep in mind that they probably designed it differently for a reason, so it might be best to just leave it be. It's not like you'll be removing the battery on a regular basis.

The different bracket is to accomodate people who have the manual and shift violently. Since the CVT doesn't "shift" and since the automatic has very lazy shifts, it won't cause the battery to jostle or move a ton from it's sitting position.

Don't feel bad, I've had my car almost 3 months and I'm STILL not used the high clutch. Every other car I've driven hasn't shifted quite this harshly, everything from 600HP M3's to a 65HP Metro.
