Car does not start

FYI: I have a after market security system on my 1991 Q. You press the keyless entry and it unlucks the door. 30 secs later it will automaticly lock it. If you don't use the keyless entry button the baterry will cut off power and no one will be able to steal the car.On ocassion it takes a couple of trys to start the car. No misfires or anything. Just seems like the battery is dead or a fuse isnt catching. The last 2 days its gotten worse. It will take 10mins to try and start the car. When it finally does get started eveything is fine except for the 1k idle. Any ideas what can cause this? Could it be the security system thats causing my problems?

Check your battery. Get the largest one you can get at OEM spec or higher.

Add-on alarms can drain them and sap battery performance over time. Battery should be replaced every two years, maybe three in a cooler climate. Weak batteries stress alternators and precipitate replacement. Do blow out the front of your alternator with compressed air annually to prevent overheating and failure.

Check the connections to the battery as well as a not so tight connect can give you starting problems as well.

and switch out the starter relay with another to test. Often go bad. Blue on the Passenger side, listen for clicking or not.

Don't adjust the idle at the TB! It is probably of the many tune-up problems that have been overlooked. IAC, EGR, TB clean, ETC.
