My car was running fine for about two weeks now. Just got my oil leak fixed. I got a new water temp and boost gauge and was hooking it up. I used my constant(yellow wire) from the radio and my switch with my headlights(red wire) right under the steering wheel. I drove to work, everythiong works perfectly. As I am driving home at night, my radio starts to turn on and off. Then like 10 mins later I try to step on the gas and the car starts to boggle and wont let me even get to 2000 rpms. So i Pull over and turn off the car. I try to turn it back on and my lights and everything shut off as I turn the key. My interior lights are still on but when I try to start all the power just shuts off. So I assume by battery is dead. My friend comes with some jumper cables and the car turns on right away. a rev the car and its running smoothly again. AS I take off the jumper cables the lights in my car start to dim a little I rev the car a bit and it wont let me rev up past 2k again . I turn on my lights and the car shuts off? What could the problem be?Hope this didnt sound to confusing:)

check alternator belt, check the tension, check the ground. it's probably a bad alternator that needs to be replaced. the exact same thing happend to me a few days ago, check my post.

I heard that you can use a alternator from a SOHC engine with modification to the wiring. Is this true? If so, could anyone tell me how to do this?
