I recently changed out my rear brakes after destroying the rotors, and just about everything else.... the brake light is still on, and the car almost dies whenever i brake drastically, when the radio and AC is on full blast it dies, when the AC is off it idles really low while braking but then kicks back up after a second.... I'm thinking it might be a alternator problem, but ive had this problem for a couple weeks now... and if the alternator is out, then the car would have died a loong time ago... the brakes have been changed and the brake light is still on... any suggestions before i go out and drop a lot of $$ on some dealer parts!?

P.S. Coolant reservoir from nissan is $90.01 "hey erica, get me that empty pepsi bottle..."

A lot of chain stores like Autozone or PepBoys will test the charging system for free. Worst case, you'll have to remove the alternator to take it in for testing.

your idle speed could be too low. The drawing of vacuum for the power brakes or the extra drag of running your accesories could be enough to stall the engine. If the plugs are wore out or the car runs kind of weak anyway it might be time for a tune up.

the diaphram in your servo might have a hole or a rip in it.

I agree with themadscientist on this one. You need a tune up. I had this problem for a while, come out of gears and hit the brakes and the car would die...I bought some NGK Iriduim plugs and Accel wires and i haven't had a problem since.

Check the accesory wire comming off of your battery i had a problem with it corroding and if I turned on the light and press the brakes the lights would dim and the speedo would bounce.

I think I might need a tune up.... its been a while... I got that optimum redtop battery, the connections are fine, all the fuses are alright except the one that turns off the check engine light (after you change that fuse, wait 10 seconds, and it goes out again....lol) anyways... I think a tune up would be good... I got the Magnacor ignition wires... probably the spark plugs etc...
