car died upon shifting into gear

recently removed thermostat in 92' 240 SX to check on the cause of overheating problem. while on test drive car ran fine temp held etc. stopped at store for two minutes to grab a soda. came out got back into car put it into reverse and pluhhh dead car will not start

have you checked the obvious things like battery connections and the alt fuse? I had a weird no start once that involved a plastic plug that helped actuate a switch on the clutch pedal. Switch did not work because the plunger would not go back in.

i will check the connections and fuses in a short while, thank you for the suggestions im running back and forth between the pc and the phone trying to get the pos home all and any tips and clues are welcome at this point

you need to be more specific: died as in no battery power? died as in crank but no fire? or has battery juice but no crank????

had the same thing happen to me on a different nissan, i replaced the throttle body and everything worked great again. it literally was the same scenerio and it pissed me off cuz nothing was obviously wrong.
