i have a 2002 sentra 180k miles on it.i just got a new suspension kit 2 weeks ago (kyb gr-2 struts) (eibach prokit springs)new tires hankook tires took it to the garage yesterday and....

both back struts are leaking oil front right has NO strut mount none.My trans bearing is gone reverse is very choppy with a loud noise like the throwout bearing. Also my brake light is on and looking thru the back brakes you cant see any breaks left.

Is there any way my struts could have already gone back? yeah i go hard on them but not jumping anything and only pavement. i havnt hit any potholes that i can remember.

What should i do? i can fix the struts and mount myself but need to get new struts obviously.

new transmission would have to be put in by a shop is it worth it? the Engine runs great but would also need motor mounts....

HELP

As far as I know the KYB GR-2's are only OE replacement struts, not high performance aftermarket. If you really want something that will compliment your pro kit springs, go with koni yellows. You absolutely can't go wrong with them.

Also look maybe something from bilstein or KW. They're pricey, but you gotta pay to play.

yeah kyb gr-2s are stock oem replacements but the eibach prokit was made for a stock strut setup. Thats what i dont get and my front struts are perfectly fine. I think the was the sentra is setup puts alot of pressure on the back struts maybe an upgrade to koni yellows on the back with gr-2s on the front? Or would that totaly kill my stability

For shocks and spring, you put the same for all corner. Don't mess with that. Different shock need to work all four together, it won't in that case.

thats what i figured...Well i can get new rear struts but if there just going to blow once again whats the point? Should i get new ones and sell the set online? And what would be a good strut that i can upgrade to?

Do you have a warranty of those struts? Sounds like you got bad ones. Who installed them?

Otherwise it sounds like your rear brakes stuck and ground themselves to death. Is your brake fluid reservoir full? How recently was the fluid changed?

yeah i think they were bad... they were installed correctly by a friend the shop agreed. I think maybe that since they were stored in a warehouse in FLA then shiped up to NH may have somthing to due with it? temperature change of about 50.

My rear brakes are just old.... i needed to change them but havnt got around to it and the resi is fine on fluid but it would just leak out if i filled it so whats the point.

I also talked to my shop and the mech said he doesnt know how long a swap on trannys for the 1.8 would take. They charge a flat rate of 64.99 an hour.

The owner of the shop used to be my dads service manager back when we owned a dealership so i know he wont complain if i give him a time estimate. He wont try to rip me off.

Honestly the cost of a trans replacement may be more than the car is worth with 180k, even if you have an in with the shop.

yeah maybe.... i got the trans for 500$ if it takes 10 hours that 650$ thats honestly fine with me if its going to be 15hours of labor thats different but im guessing 5-8 hours. And im broke right now... so buying another car isnt an option.

the car with the trans as is IS driveable but it makes a lot of noise. Im going to just keep saving the funds and tackling each problem one by one

Personally I would try to get a different car...

I mean you can find a running 240 or civic for the cost of a transmission and labor costs.
