Hi i am new to this so be gentle with me! I have an R33 gts had it 3 years no problem now it has decided to just cut out and stop. It will start again run for a while then start to miss and when you pull up the revs slowly and take your foot off it will almost stop then pick up and tick over normally it has done about 44,000 miles and has a tomei ecu with an hks afr unit spliced into it. some people locally are saying coil packs some are saying throttle position swicth and some air flow meter. some are saying plug gap! Any help would be gratefully recieved!!!

Check the AFR connections to the harness. I had a car that would intermittently cut out and traced it to the previous owner's SAFC connections, WIRE NUTS!

TPS and AFM are two other possibles as well. Plug gap, no.

Hi thanks mate but you will have to expand on your abreviations! Had a Lancia Intergrale for years before this no problems thought going Japanese instead of Italian would be ok! I am an engineer ( work on Main battle tanks) so ican do the work if i know a what i am looking for and b where it is located! I have just had it repainted and maybe the guy rinsed off around the engine bay could water ingress be the part of the problem? i have come home from work car started as soon as i touched the key revs picked up and everything seemed fine but as some as it reached normal running temperature reluctant to pick up the revs then eratic tick over then when i tried to raise the revs they dwindled away and it stopped.

Thanks for the welcome guys i dont know about pictures but if i dont get it fixed so i can sell and get a GTR V spec then i am more likely to beat it to death!!!!!

Ok, so in runs well until it reaches operating temperature?

check all those little tubes around your intake manifold. mine was doing the same thing when those weren't hooked up.

Hi yes it seems to be fine after first starting up! it plays up once it is up to normal operateing temp. A friend told me to check the voltage at the temp sensor 5volts when first started then should drop 1ish? have just done this cold with ignition on 3.5v as it heated up dropped to 1.1/1.2 ! wiggled the suspect scotch lock conectors from the HKS AFR (set to 6) to the ECU while running all seemed ok no cutting out etc. Seems to be better than yesterday revs will pick up ok when hot now but if i raise the revs to about 2,000 the revs still drop down to about 200/300 then jump to about 1,000 then drop back to about 750 ????? I havent driven it up the road yet to put it under load but out on the drive it seems to have improved over night. I wonder if some water did get in somewhere and is now drying out????

hi there have been playing about and the car starts fine but when i try it up the road and put it under load it miss fires cuts and cuts out i can start it (just ) and limp it it home from about 100 yards where it will rev up quite freely on the drive but it will if you pick the revs up to about 1200 to 1500 and let off it will drop back to about 200 rpm then slowly get back to tick over! Getting really frustrated now
