Howdy All,

I finally found a boot cover for my '94 and love the look of it. Of course now I want to keep the top down all the time. So, I've been looking for a car cover that I can put on JUST the open cockpit of the car. I figured having that would be easier than covering the whole car numerous times a day. I have seen pictures of convertibles with such tops here on the site.

I've done some google searching but didn't come up with anything. Figured I'd trun to the real PROS! So......anynone? anyone?

I've NEVER seen one.

Real poplar on old British and Italian sports cars, but never seen one for a 240.... Great idea tho!

Hey AZ

Well I figured I'd make your day. I FOUND the exact interior car cover that I've been looking for. Just ordered it from Car Cover World. I opted for the Weathershield by Covercraft. It's custom made at their factory in Oklahoma. Should be here in a week or so. Total cost was under $100 including shipping.

I'm thinking that the $100 is a lot cheaper than replacement parts for the convertible top. I drive to and from work with the top down almost every day - gotta LOVE Southern California! This way I can park it in the lot and NOT have to put the top up and down 2 - 4 times a day! Of course it would be better if I covered the whole car, but we all know what a pain in the neck that is to do 4 or more times a day. Hope my logic is, well - logical!

Not sure if I'm allowed to include the link.....but here it is.....just in case it's OK!http://www.carcoverworld.com/F...CID=8

Looks good, maybe I'll order one...

Post a pic once you get yours D.U.N. ?

BTW, they (covercraft) don't seem to think they have any for '92, so just tell 'em you've got a '94.

Guess it's a good thing that I do have a '94!

I'll post some pictures as soon as the cover arrives. I'm hoping this will be the only "top" the car uses until the next rain we have here in Socal....like January 2006! :-)

Agreed. I've been considering removing and storing my entire top mechanism for weight savings. I never use it, as it's garaged and I only drive it in nice weather (340 days of the year).

Actually, it'll soon be too hot to drive it. Funny that a convertible is considered a "winter car" in AZ.

I just received my cover from car cover world. Works fine and looks good with the boot in place. However, it does not pull tight at the back. Thinking maybe I will hook up a bar with velcro and attach the three tabs that go in the truck. This would provide some tension? Anyone else see the same issue or have another solution?

Hi,

Thanks for the update. I got my car cover last week and have used it a few times. It does look good and is easy to put on and take off. And it folds very small and doesn't take up any room in the trunk! I also have a boot on my car and the cover works well with it. I do know what you mean about the back not being "snug". But I don't think it's a major issue yet. When the SAnta Anna winds pick up it may be a real issue. Please let me know what velcro contraption you come up with.

On a related note, I'm not really sure what to do with the elastic straps that come on the side. I tried putting it on door posts but that actually made more of a gap. I'm thinking of getting some rubber coated hooks and hook the straps to the outside door handles. Am I missing something about these elastic straps?

I am putting the straps around the door handles. Lifting the handles out enough without opening the door.

Touch off topic, but I remember seeing in old old photos of convertables where they had a rubber top that attached around the edge of the car like that cover shown. However, this had the window exposed. Then you had two holes with hoods in it for the driver and passenger. They used it for top down in the rain. Though I guess back then some cars didn't have tops period!
