My 92 KA24de cannot hold idle. The symptoms are:1. It turns over then pauses idleing at like 1500rpm for 2-3 seconds2. after that it slowly dies as it loses power3. It will run, however, if i give it gas. It runs pretty smooth too.

Please let me know what you think. Thanks

yeah, its prolly clogged up.. take it off and clean it with some intake cleaner, or you could try the ghetto way.

Which if i remember right, you disconnect hose, and spray some intake cleaner into hose.. (Dont recommend)

yes, it will make the car die at idle, its not regulating the proper amount of air into the combustion chamber, its staying closed which would cause almost no air to enter the intake runners causing the car to stumble and die at idle, with the throttle open more air is getting through the intake allowing for proper combustion

Did you do anything to the car before this happened? But yeah, most likely the iacv or a vacuum leak.

i went "off roading" at 60mph with the top down... into a barbed wire fence. But thats another story. there is mud in my engine bay

It's a long shot but I had the same symptoms of a clogged IACV but i noticed my injectors were leaking. Replaced the o-rings on my injectors and the bad idle went away, and now it starts in 2-3 turns as opposed to 20-30 seconds.

turns out it was just the hose closest to the windshield. It was disconnected right at its metal securring bracket.

I was just about to say... this sounded like a vacuum leak
