Well, I was at a party for a friend and was running late and I had bags of ice some food and gifts and really needed to be there on time so in my rushed state to get the car unloaded and everything squared away I did not go through my normal steps of locking things up and as a result my G was violated and my Valentine One was stolen. (Baseball bat to the driver's window and SMASH!!)

I was parked on the street under a street light in a neighborhood with million dollar McMansions and you would think it would be a safe area but I guess not. A friend at the party has a Gallardo that was parked two cars behind me, there were two party goers with Aston's so I was not the nicest car on the block by any means and some of the others had radar detectors in the window but alas they wanted the best and eyed that V! that I was stupid enough to leave in plain sight so it really sucks.

That was only the second time in my life that I have been so mad that I wasn't mad. I literally would have shot them if I would have caught them and had a gun of course.

I have no sympathy for thieves. That is one commandment that should never be broken. I think people who steal should have their hands cut off.

That is happening more and more with the economy getting bad. People would rather be lazy and steal sh%t from others than make an honest days wage to buy something.

The funny thing is I had it powered by a stealth cord so they don't even have a power source to operate it with unless you can rig that thing to work in other vehicles.

So, new window - $250 installed (which I thought was good since I was expecting $300 or $400) new tint $40, oh and get this the guy tinting the window got to close to the top of the door panel with the heat gun and melted the door panel down to the white foam under the top layer....so what could have been him making $40 has now turned into him buying me a new driver's door panel at a cost of $450??? I swear people just do not take the time to pay attention......and aparently I am one of them....duh!

So.....I guess my point is that for anyone out there who has a Valentine One DO NOT have a brain fart like me and leave that thing in the window. Be sure to always lock it up!!!!!!

Ordered a new one this morning and logged the other one as stolen with V! so who knows I might get it back one day but I doubt it.

Just thought I would share.

That seriously sux!! What a bunch of tools..

Funny you mention the guy at the tint place and his idiocy.. I was just talking this morning to a colleague of mine. We were discussing the severe lack of care, effort and passion people have in their line of work these days.

No one seems to give 2 ****z about their job and they just do half azzed work.

It pisses me off when I go somewhere and the cashier basically gives you attitude. Theres no please, no Thank you. Hell, sometimes they don't even tell you the amount of your purchase, they just hold out their hand. I deal with d!ck all day, the last thing I need is attitude from a cashier.

If you don't like your job and it makes you miserable...GTFO!!!

Whizz I couldn't agree with you more. I have to provide excellent customer service all day everyday and I finance doctors so dealing with the ego alone is yet another level of diplomacy.

But to then go out and spend my hard earned money and be treated like crap really ticks me off. I try to think that hey maybe that person is just having a bad day but then it seems like every person on the damn planet is having a bad day.

What can you do. I really feel bad that the guy is having to buy a whole new door panel for that one 4 inch melt spot but then again he screwed up and why should I pay for his mistake. He was a really nice guy with a good clean shop I am sure it was an accident but he still should have paid attention to what he was doing. I guess I will try to send him some business to make up for the loss he is going to take on my job.

It would be different if he was a jerk because then I would just nail him to the wall on the cost and not care but he was very embarrassed and apologetic so I am waiting to see if he makes it right. Will keep you posted.

I do too. I ALWAYS lock EVERYTHING up. The one time I let my guard down and POW I get jacked.

Wow sorry to hear that man. It really sucks. I agree with you on cutting hands off the thief. I had that before left my leather jacket maybe $200-300 in the car and they did a damage of $600+.

This sucks! Sorry to hear about this, J-Owner! Thieves have no honor---they just don't understand, "thou shalt not steal". I am glad you were able to get things back in order.

didn't you see the 2 jackasses that stole a light pole (felony) to try and trade it in to a aluminum scrap place for cash. it was hilarious. they balanced it on a van with some rope. when they interviewed the shop owner he said "its not even recyclable, and they wouldn't have been able to sell it for much."

I'm sorry to hear about your situation. This reminds me that I need to be more careful with my car. I frequently half-a$$ the locking of it. I've been blessed not to have a problem, but it's still stupid of me.

Then again, there's usually not much of value in the car and only a pro could "hot-wire" one of our cars.

I completely agree with the comment regarding our economy and the seeming increase of money related crimes. It's horrible.

In defense of the horrible cashiers, some of them have no other options. They may be lucky to have landed their cashier job and their managers might be total A-holes. I try to be really good to my employees when I have them under me, but I've had plenty managers who couldn't care less about their employees. Just themselves and meeting quotas.

My old Maxima got broken into once. They stole everything EXCEPT my golf clubs. Figure that one out.

i remember when my last car got broken into... i was under full coverage so with insurance i had parts of the car repainted, got a new window + tint, and enough money to get an alpine headunit. it was such a hassle, but afterwards i was kinda glad it happened because i would never have gotten the aftermarket headunit hahah

Smock you can party with us anytime.

I have a lot of friends/clients that are doctors and of course their earning power is much more than mine. I live a little better than comfortable but the tax return of some of the people I know would make your eyes explode. They definetely put me on the poverty line. And of course doctors with money = doctors with toys!!

If I had it to do over again I would either be a boob doctor, Orthodontist or a Urologist. CHA-CHING!!

On a side note on the damaged door panel, the tint guy is replacing the whole panel. He said since I was a VIP customer at the dealer and the dealer sends him probably 70% of his business he wants to make sure I am taken care of and happy. That is very nice of him. I feel bad that he is now in the whole but I already have two cars to send him so hopefully he can recoupe the money. I bet the guy in his shop got an enormous a$$ chewing and hopefully he won't make that mistake again.

Kboy - I did have golf clubs in the trunk but I keep the button in the glove box turned off and the glove box was locked so they could not have gotten in the trunk anyway luckily. That would have been even worse.

Then they should count their blessings that they have a job to go to if their options are that limited. Those that lack the courtesy and professionalism may be jeopardizing their position with that attitude. What if someone complained about them or even a few. Then theres a chance they could be fired and lose that job. Thus, putting them in the unemployment line because they had such "limited options"

There's no excuse for poor mannerisms, rudeness, lack of professional courtesy or business etiquette.. so again I say...if you don't like your job GTFO!!

That sucks a lot, I'm sorry to hear about your car. Thankfully I have never had any of my cars broken into. God willing it will stay that way. The worst I can think of that every happened to my last G(the accident aside), was when I was coming out of a movie one night and as I'm walking through the parking lot, I see my car ALL the way at the other end of the lot. On my car, were two teenagers making out, her with her back on my drivers side window and him pushing up against her with his hands on my window. The friends I had with me saw the anger in my face and were like, "Uh-oh, they done f'ed up now!" I was so pissed, I high tailed it towards my car yelling, "Hey, y'all wanna get off my car?!" Needless to say the two kids booked it!

Oh and btw, forgot to ask and forgive my ignorance on this one but... please explain to me how you "half-@$$" lock a car? I mean, it seems pretty straight forward to me, windows up, glove box locked, get out, hit the lock button on the key fob, or arm your alarm if you have one. Unless y'all have like, robotic armed sentries you strategically place around the car, or electrify the door handles or something extreme like that?

That one made me chuckle.

I don't lock my glove box unless I leave something valueable in there. Windows usually go up 95% of the way but are left cracked because I don't have a moonroof and I have a black on black coupe, and because it heats up to 105+ in the summer.

The half-a$$ed portion is that I usually start walking away from my car, then click the lock button. Sometimes I don't check for the flashing lights (horn option is turned off).

Ah, ok, now I get it. I'm also glad that I got a chuckle out of you. As for the windows thing, I am guilty of that one too, so I guess I've half-@$$ed it too before. It gets pretty warm in Texas and Georgia too. lol

Hell, I leave my windows cracked open and sometimes the sun roof open (depending on location--known safe areas, security cameras, the likes). And even further depending on location, I'll leave the windows down as well. I'm probably just asking for it one day.

J, when I make it to TX, I'll let you know. Don't count on it, but I'll give you fair warning so you guys can plan a big welcoming party Texas-doctor style.
