Car broken into, now won't shift into Park, PLEASE HELP

I have an automatic s14 that got broken into today. They moved the shift lever down to drive to steal the cd player and now I can't shift it back into Park. The lever won't move without the key in the car, right? So I'm guessing they just used enough force to move the lever down. Now, I have to keep the car in neutral to start it and when i shut it off, I just keep it in neutral and pull the ebrake. Does anyone know how to fix this or am I screwed? Please help, thanks a lot!
