Hi,

My '89 240 bogs out, sometimes real bad. I will be sitting at a light and it will not even have enough power to accelerate. I will have to shut it off and then start it back up again to make it go! Sometimes it runs like a dream and other times it just acts up? Any ideas? please

Thanks

From what I understand, lots of KA24E motors (your single cam since you have an 89) have this "type" of problem. Try checking your AIV system. I hear it has to do with a lot of idle/bogging problems on s13's. If you can't find anything wrong with it, I heard some people remove the system alltogether. I believe that all the system does is help heat up the CAT faster so it can start working more quickly. Do a search for AIV.

Thanks TachyonS14, I will look into that. Do you think it could be the inigtion coil?

I would doubt the ignition coil would be the problem (mine is still factory and no problems yet!) I would check the AIV first them maybe look at your MAF, might be that the connector is corroded and that caused mine to act up... I checked all of the connectors that I could find to see if they were corroded, only one that was really bad was my MAF... Helped me out a lot... Although I still have some little problems... Idle acts funny sometimes, etc...

Hope this helps!

try spraing out the maf with brake cleaner, dont use carb cleaner though.and dont hit the hot wire directly with spray, its really sensitive. have you pulled the ecu and checked for codes

if you aiv is bad, the maf will likely have soot all over it. i just used an empty CO2 cartrige from a bb gun to plug mine up, never had a problem since.

Thanks guys,

I cleaned out the aiv and maf sensors and tightened all the intake hoses up seems to be running real good! I am going to do my wires and plugs and coil today.
