Put the key in this morning after the car has been sitting for two months outside, trun the key and......vvvvvvmp.........vvvvvvpm.......vvvvpm..............................................vvvvvvmp vvvvmp engine starts up, car runs fine so I'm thinking just low voltage in the battery from sitting for so long.

So I drive to work and all is well and I'm thinking that the battery will get a good charge out of the drive.

I park, shut off the engine, restart the engine and ......vvvvvvmp.........vvvvvvpm.......vvvvpm..............................................vvvvvvmp vvvvmp engine starts up, exactly the same thing.

The batttery voltage is fine, what could this be?:help

Either alternator or starter. If you can, check the voltage of the alternator while revving the car to around 2000 rpm, should be at 13.6 to 13.8 volts.

Well this is strange....It was really bad this afternoon it went vvvvvvvvpm click click and then started, weird huh?

Anyway I dropped a buddy off home so I did about 30 miles, got home turned off the engine, started her up and wow! works perfectly so since the battary is only 3 months old I'm wondering if it's the voltage regulator.

Any ideas folks? oh and the battery was reading 11-12 volts which I know is a little low, I reved the engine while doing the reading and the needle didn't move, is it supposed to?

Yes, it should be around 13.8 when you rev it up. Either that or 14.4, I can't remember exactly..
