i recently heard a rumor that putting an RB25DET in my s14 would upset the car's balance by quite a bit and make it handle poorly, or at least worse than stock. does anyone have any information to back this up? i figure if i throw out the air condidtioning (which was almost 80 lbs from the last car i ripped one out of), and move the battery to the trunk i'll be alright. does anyone know how much the RB weighs compared to the KA, with or without turbo, intercooler, and anything else extra? how does it sit compared to the KA? i'm a mechanical engineer, and if i know the weight and position difference i'm sure i could set up the suspension to handle it appropriately. thanks, and please don't flame me too bad. if i failed to find this info searching and it's really there somewhere, just delete my post and i'll figure it out

I have not checked the weight after the install. I have a s13. My setup is just what you described with no A/C and Bat. in the hatch. I can say the handling is still great at least in my car. Did not notice any differance.

it will not effect it that badly, so you want perfect 50/50 weight distrution, scale the car before the engine install with everything out like cloths papers and everything that not related to the car and also remember when you re-weight it that the gas tank is just as full as the last time, and weight it both time with you inside and you should have 50/50 weight distrubtion

actually, a car like this will handle better with a slightly forward weight distribution, like 54/46, especially if it retains a low polar moment. if there's any question about my engineering skills, just look at how Nissan set up the new 350Z, and that thing will pull .99Gs lateral stock

and to add. i've driven a couple rb20s13's and they feels very close to a s13 with a ka or sr. hard to even tell except the exhaust note.
