The equipment is very nice. Just coaxials aren't for me.I have had a lot of nice coaxials over the years, and by preferance ,i will always choose seperates.I loved my kappa 6.5" coaxials when the green ones first came out in the late 90's.I sold them off for the 6.5" seperates that had the ceramic tweet and decided from that point on i'll never run coaxials again.I get so much better stage and depth from seperates.

Been busy with the install the last couple days.

Bought some gutter guard at home depot and cut it up and used to to fill the holes in the door.

Then covered the door and the holes with the sound deadening.

Then finally covered the doors with high density foam.

Used dry ice to remove most of the old sound insulation from the floor pans. After that I grabbed my angle grinder and a thick wire wheel and ground the rest of it up. (huge mess....) And finally threw a quick coat of rustoleum over the whole mess.

Put down some sound deadening on the floor pan. Will do the high density foam sometime tomorrow probably.

Also took my headliner out and painted it. I really like how it turned out. Love the contrasting colors

Does it make a lot of difference the sound deadening? The road noise is ruduced?

Its supposed to. The shiny tin foil looking stuff gets rid of a lot of the vibrations in the metal and the foam is just a sound insulator. I'll post how it sounds after this is all said and done.

You do realize that 99.9% of the people that are going to read this are trying to make their s13's lighter by any means possible (even by dieting) and are going to flame you right? The sound deadening thing isn't bad, but come on, subs?

There is no way you guys are bashing this guy for adding some audio equipment and sound deadening to his car!?! I mean seriously? For a dedicated track car, sure.....strip every ounce of useless weight as possible. You act like this car was designed to be a race car and should be used as nothing else. Have you checked the badge on your car lately..... it's a "240sx" for God sakes.

Its actually a Maaco job. Was about 2500 with all of the body work.

My goal from the beginning was to never turn my car into a "race" car. It always has been and always will be my daily driver. This is nissan car owners and enthusiasts website, not a strip your interior and ride down in the freeway in what sounds like a tin can full of rocks website. Oh, and there aren't any subs, just loud speakers.

Thank you Broadfield. I agree, its a 240sx, not a freakin supercar.

So flame away if you want, but just remember not everyone else wants to make their car a track car. I, for one, just like the look and feel of em and want to make mine a better daily driver. kthxbai

News flash for the haters: Music has bass and every stereo in the universe sounds better with FULL RANGE SOUND (which includes bass).

Install looks good so far. Car will be cooler and quieter inside. Forget the rear speakers and bridge the output of that amp on a 12W1v2-4.

if your going to take all this time and effort, you should honestly put a set of components in the front, they sound alot better then co-ax's couild imagine

also, definetly keep the rear speakers and get a separate amp for the subs, unless all you like is bass that is.

currently in my 90 hatch is jl 5.25xr components up front, alpine 4x6's in rear (need to make template for 6x9's) ran by an jl 300x4 amp. jl 10w7 ho sub ran by jl 500/1 amp.

the only thing i can complain about is the 4x6's sound like crap and i dont have sound deadner installed

Not everybody out there wants to strip out their 17 second car and make it a 16.899 second car haha.

Some people actually like cars to be comfortable to drive and people like good music and good quality music at that. Why people bash what others do to their own personal car is something i do not think i will ever understand.
