And like I said, in that case, you are dealing with a pro, and an alarm won't matter.

I've seen amateurs defeat car alarms in seconds and crackheads who really don't care if an alarm is going off. I guess it depends on what kind of neighborhood you live in.

In my hood a blinking LED would draw attention rather than repel it. My neighbor had her car broken into several times, even though they never found anything of value. Her solution was to leave her car completely empty and unlocked.

I just finished doing my alarm in my s13 and can tell you the best way to do it so it cannot be bypassed easily. You have to take the entire dash off and find where the ignition wires run up behind the gauge cluster. Its a harness that comes up from the ignition switch and runs towards the pillar.

From there you can grab constant, ignition, and your starter wire. When the dash is off you can put the alarm above brain the center heater vents. This makes it impossible to get to any critical part of the alarm.

All you need to do then is add a backup battery so if they disconnect the car battery the alarm will still be active. The only way to steal the car then will be if they have your keys w/the alarm remote, or if they tow the car.

Dude, Clifford is MADE by the SAME company as Viper. You may have had problems with the Viper, but you don't know who installed it. I bought a clifford for my truck and a python for my 240 and after comparing the two, I would choose the python over clifford any day. Python alarms are designed to be compact and reliable, and yes Pythons are very similar if not the same as Viper and I would choose Viper over Clifford.

This is total necro-posting but I just want to vent!My car got broken into last night, apparently a slim-jim since the doors were unlocked and no broken windows. The only thing I had lying out on the seats was a box of kleenex, real valuable to someone else with a cold.

They checked under my seat (my 160g Ipod was in my room, thank god!), stole my ashtray which had about $20 in quarters, and an old-school pair of Oakleys out of the glove-box, but left the other nice sunglasses in the side door. Also, they left the CD face plate on the front seat, maybe decided not to take the CD deck. And stole my $10 socket set out of my trunk, but left the $50 one, and also took 2 tennis rackets and left the balls. Also, they could have taken my brand new Sparco's off with said socket set, but decided against it. Weird freaking car prowlers.

Alarm system time, and I am switching from my covered parking space that is total invisible from the street (thinking easier to stay hidden when you are robbing peeps) to the exposed parking lot behind my building that is in view of 3-4 other buildings.

I am thinking car thievery should be a capital crime, with a slow death, like being beaten with wiffle bats.

Got an Autopage alarm installed this morning after they broke into the car a 2nd time, and stole everything they missed the first time...Fingers crossed it will do any good.

EW wrote:The BEST proximity sensor on the market is the Clifford G5 model that is included with the Avant Guard5 or can be added to the Concept 450 and up models. Digital dual zone remotely adjustable sensor that can have the warning zone or trigger zone defeated on the fly. Works GREAT! No problems or issues when installed properly.

Also, the Clifford Concept450 has an impact sensor, glass breakage microphone, normally open starter kill, normally open ignition kill, and a coded valet switch. Much more secure than your average $99 alarm.
+1 Go find a Clifford dealer in your area, and talk to them about installing it. Installation is the most important part of the alarm.
