I have a 2014 M37x and the car alarm goes off for no reason. It is parked in my driveway and just goes off. It has also happen at other locations. Any ideas?

Does the car still have warranty? That's odd...

The hood, door, and trunk switches are what trigger the OEM alarm. You might have a bad switch or a problem with the wiring from them.

Do the instrument panel warning lights for the doors or trunk being open ever come on while driving?

Thanks for responding. The warning lights do not come on while driving. Do you think I should clean the contact switches? If you do any idea where they are and how to get to them.

Door switches are on the door jams, you'll see a rubberized boot lookin thing. Not sure where the ones for the trunk are. Hood ones should be pretty easy to find. I'm assuming it's either in the front or along the outside frame.

I have not seen any plunger style switches under the hood or in the trunk so they might be built into the latch mechanisms.

Does it have a factory shock sensor installed? Mine does and it's pretty sensitive. Loud exhausts and even jet engines from the airport 5-10 miles away will trip it at times.

Seems aftermarket. Most manufacturers don't do it (anymore).

Javampato, pretty curious tho. Did this ever end for you? It would drive me nuts too.

They may have done away with it (like the four wheel steering) but it was definitely a box I checked on the PO. I've never been able to find documentation on it and dealer seems clueless (not a surprise for me anymore) but it was listed and added as a factory option when I bought her. Makes her a real temperamental B*tch and somewhat of a hypocrite. She roars pretty loudly on satartup herself. lol.

I had this problem with my 2011. It started with the alarm randomly going off for no reason and then one day I got into the car and the ignition sensor wouldn't recognize the key. Had it replaced under warranty.

GET A WARRANTY! You won't regret it. Do it now before it's too late.

My car just started doing this just now...woke my a** up at 7:33am (I work from home so not due up for another 1.5hrs lol). I went outside to investigate and by the time I was ready to get into bed again, it did it again 10 minutes later.

What exactly was replaced under warranty?

Also a 2011 and have had it for 4 years without it ever doing something like this.

Car just did it again. I'm pissed. I ended up removing the alarm horn/de-icer relay from the engine bay (drive side near intake).

Anyone have any information on this or do I need to fork over the $120 at the dealer?

I saw that thread last week...do we have such a sensor? I didn't think we did. And how would one change it's 'value'?
