you have a silvia conversion and you dont know what gapping plugs is, someone shoot me. QUICK. ... its the distance between the ground electrode (the one that hangs down ) and the center electrode (self explan.) You must use a feeler gauge to get the proper gap distance for your specific engine. a spark plug with too small a gap will not have a strong spark and too wide may not even spark any, so the correct gap is vital to a well running engine. id take the plugs out and check them out, or if its been a while do a tune up, run some fuel injector cleaner, change your fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, pcv valve, air filter. and that kind of sounds like a carbon build up in your exhaust common with cars that sit, if it sits alot get on the highway and put the pedal to the medal and blow that carbon the **** out ... my 02centshope that helps bud.

i look at it like this, i will be working on car my whole life, all the cars in the next 10 or so years *that i can afford* are gonna have spark plugs. so why not get one that gaps more effectively for a few bux more.

whats wrong with a cheapy gapper?? For regular maintenance use it does just fine

"and that kind of sounds like a carbon build up in your exhaust " Thats just a shot in the dark man (and hope you meant buildup on valves..). The spark plug was a better guess, if he hasn't had problems right up until he changed his plugs, then obviously thats where he should start. Throwing parts at a car to fix it is left for Joe Blow Mekanik....just my 02 cents .

s13lover, check you plug gap, honestly if you don't understand teh concept of gapping spark plugs, just google it or you can always ask a nearby shop, most shops are nice enough to take 2 seconds to show a guy something simple like that hope you find the problem!

Sure, maybe one is more accurate then the other, but regardless both work.

We end up getting all of our gapper's free through my dads buisness...so that might be a large reason on why i use them. But even at that, they have always worked for me. Through DOZENS of vehicles and engines, b16s, h22s, ka's, e36, all of our work trucks, etc etc.

But hey! To each his own opinion!

I understand your point completely, why not spend the extra few dollars and get the more accurate one!

I hope you're not using that gapper on platinum plugs cause if you are..... I And I'm pretty sure the E36, and most of the b whatever series honda's use platinum plugs.
