Very simple question. Sorry if im being a newbie, but Im curious as to how much the Z32 transmission can handle..... Are they fairly decent reliable with higher HP, like 400HP or so?

Try more like 900, yes im being serious. Though 90-93 had weaker synchos then the 94+ trannys. Generally though for all year manual trannys the stated number is 900 horses. Though who knows when your transmission will give out could be with stock power could be with 1200 its not a science more of a guessing game and a risk. Though no one makes an upraged manual Z32 transmission except for teh HKS 6 spd transmission and good luck finding one and if you the $6k someone is going to want for it is just a little absurd. So what im saying is pretty much you should be fine and if you arent well not much you can do about it.

I'm sure you could get someone to adapt a quaife sequential box too, but the z32 box is good - I've personally seen 750HP through it and 10s drag passes through it without a problem.

If your clutch is in good shape it will be fine for most driving styles. I still recommend an upgraded clutch system and premium fluids for the transmission and diff, the weakest link in the hole system is the driveshaft.

Interesting... What do you do for an upgraded driveshaft...?

also, are the driveshafts the same for the MT and AT, except the length.....? Meaning does the output shaft have the same number of teeth...

I'm pretty sure the driveshafts are different between auto and manual. Several companies make 1 piece driveshafts, in steel, aluminum, or carbon fiber.

Z32 trannies are pretty rock solid, mine takes a beating just fine

As for the stock clutches....they're fair but you're best to upgrade if you can.

And on the driveshaft....stock is heavy and multipiece, go with aluminum 1 piece. Best bang for the buck. Also, I'm 99% sure there's differences between auto and manual.

Yup, there is a difference between auto a manual, also a 1 peice is a good idea because eventually that center carrier bearing in that two peice will need replacement.
