THE HORN BUTTON AND CRUISE CONTROL BUTTONS ARE NOT OPERATING. ALSO I DONT SEE ANY RETAINING BOLTS ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE HORN BUTTON HOW DO YOU REMOVE IT ON A 1990 MAXIMA? ALSO ANY IDE3AS ON WHAT THE PROBLEM COULD BE? MAINLY THINKING IT IS THE THREE CONTACTS ON THE STREERING WHEEL BUT I AMHAVING PROBLEMS WITH HOW TO REMOVE THE HORN BUTTON.

it should have a couple 10mm bolts from the sides of the wheel under covers. if you have steering wheel controls on either side of the horn section (hanging in the spoke of the wheel) you may need to pop their covers off and remove them first. then get to the bolts. If you have a digicam handy snap a shot and post it. I am having a mental block on the 90 max's cruise control configuration. I might be confusing it with later models of the max.

Brain fade ,sorry man.

The same thing happens to me. My air bag light on the console flashes as well. I have no blown fuses, I've checked all connections on the steering wheel and can't find anything wrong.

You probably have a bad clock spring. What you should do is hit up someone with a scan tool that can check your codes for air bag system. If you have an open circuit code for drivers air bag module I would say replace your clock spring and see if your problem is solved.

side note: when replacing anything in your air bag system. Disconnect your battery from both posts. do not start working on the system till it has been disconnected for at least 10 mins. This will give it time for all capactitors in the system to drain down. then when you are done putting it all back together hook the battery up and reach in from under the steering wheel ,keeping your head away from the air bag, turn your ignition switch to the on position. This is just a saftey precaution incase something was done wrong.
