Ok guys

as you all know... IE wont let me search (damn microslut)

ANYWAY

2 types of rattling

1 - when i rev more than 3000 RPM... it sounds like the bottom section of my engine... maybe a chain cover or something... sounds like a chatter more than a rattle...

2 - under my valve cover when i rev at all... on the come down from the rev... i hear a ping/ticking from inside valve cover...

going to change oil to mobil 1 5w30 synthetic...

i have a cracked vacuum hose right before the throttle body... dont know if that will effect anything

going to change coolant temp sensor soon

EDIT: Again I apologize for my inability to use the SEARCH button... but Internet Explorer doesnt like me much.

Sounds like timing chain noise. Do you have the KA24DE in that car? A lot of those motors had timing chain noise due to worn lower guides. As for under the valve cover the KA motor also suffered from upper chain noise. There is a guide right under the valve cover that the chain likes to slap against. You can remove that guide with no harm done to the motor or you can renew it by purchasing a new one at a nissan dealer.

I know on the altima KA24DE nissan revised the lower guides which were a ***** to replace. Since the 240 KA sits differently in the car you will have an easier time replacing these if they are indeed the problem.

Oh that cracked vaccuum line will throw the ecm off, if anything you are running lean because of the unmetered air going into the block.
