cant go over 10 degrees timing

so i was setting the timing on my car and the timing was at 0 degrees yeah i know odd so i was trying to set it back to 15 but the max it goes is 10 and i can even lower idle for that as well what should i do. did my chain jump a tooth or what could it be plz little help

Set the Crank to TDC(red mark on crank pully aligned with pin and your cam should look like this with that little mark at the 12 o clock position. If not then it jumped a tooth.

so do i only have to take off the valve cover or what else do i have to take off to do this i have all the tools but im new to this

Yeah just take off the valve cover, youll be able to see exactly whats in that picture. But if you you did skip a tooth to fix it youll have to remove the timing chain cover. I would get someone who knows a little bit to help you out.

how hard is it to take of the cover 1-5 cause i have the nissan manual. does that mean if it did jump a tooth i have to do the whole removing the powersteering and all that stuff

Removing the valve cover is a 1. Yeah if you did jump a tooth you will have to remove everything on the front of the engine. I removed the radiator also just to be safe. Thats why if you did jump a tooth I would get a friend that can help.
