Whats up nico, I am working on a a friends 98 altima. The trans is giving a code, and I was told its the sensor on the top- rear of the trans. I pulled the 10mm bolt out of the sensor, an it wiggles a bit...but doesnt come loose. I tried it on 2 diff cars in the junkyard, and they both do the same thing. Anyone know how to get this bugger out??? Is it held in by liquid gasket?? Someone let me know. Thanks alot

If you are talking about the speed sensor the o ring will swell up and make these thing a b***h to remove. They are not held in by any sealer.

The red arrow is the speed sensor I belive, that is what I was trying to get out. But what are the two orange arrows? Im getting a po743 code, says its a torque coverter code. Is this possibly a sensor problem?

Are you sure it is code 743?Not 740 or 744? It could the auto trans solenoid valve. The orange arrow towards the middle of the picture is where the solenoid harness goes into the transmission. The solenoids are mounted on the valve body.

Yeah, the the rpms shoot up at the end of each gear...and won't shift into 4th. But if you shift with the shifter,...(i.e. start in 1st, and manually change gears.) it will shift smooth. This is why Im assuming its a sensor, and not the trans itself. **EDIT**I just talked to my cousin, and now she said its "PO744"Is this a sensor?

Neil, according to my information it looks like it is going to be a shift solenoid problem or some problem with the valve body it self. I will dig into this a little more tomorrow morning when i get to work.
