Hey All

My sister has a very perplexing problem that has recently develope, last week. she attempted to fill her car's gas tank (a '95 240sx). The problem is when she pump the handle of the gas pump about every 5 seconds to get the car to fill completely. she has taken the car to several different gas stations and still have noted the problem. She took to the nissan service station ran diagnostic tests on the car and have no idea on what could be causing this unusual problem.

Have you ever heard of anything similar before, or do you have any ideas on what could be causing this? The car has not been in any accidents.

that happens to me at one gas station in my area, its the auto shutoff isnt it? its a pain, for some reason short nozzles dont like 240 tanks (mines a 95 aswell) just push the nossile in and keep it applied as you fill, its a pain and its tiresome, but forsomereson otherwise gas'll splash the sensor and stop it...

also try folding back the plastic boot so it goes into the tank more...

don't stick it all the way in and tip the tip up (man it is so hard saying that with a straight face). I have found on cars that do this that experimenting with how you place and aim the nozzle will reveal the sweet spot so it doesn't trip the trigger.

My '93 does the same thing at some stations with the auto shut-off. I either pull the nozzle out alittle like themadscientist was saying, or just dont run it at full speed..It takes longer but it also works if you don't want to hold it.
