which would be better:an sr20det with the enjuku racing turbo kit/upgradeor the ka24de rebuilt with the fmax stage 2 kit/upgrade

either way it looks like i will end up with about380-400 hp at the wheels, but which would be better in terms of useable power and such.

Don't know how the KA handles under boost, but from what I hear its just a PITA to put together a kit for a decent price. However, I won't be able to afford a SR20 either, and I definately prefer the KA's easily found guaranteed parts

The best advice I can give you is to do a search on the topic...if I'm not mistaken, it's been talked about a few times here and there.

I am still convinced that the SR is the better engine, I am concerned with losing drivability on a turbo KA. I know a guy that has a turbo KA in a datsun 510 and he blows diffs all the time. and it doesnt make lots of power. I think its like 280 to the wheels. I also gave it some thought and it doesnt seem like the process to turbo the KA would be as expensive as an SR swap. I have to be missing something though.

you would have to completely rebuild the ka and buy the turbo kit

Hmm interesting hes blowing differential all the time? You do realize however the enigine only drives the differential so hes probably blowing it from no fluids or not the right fluid? or maybe hes got to much power to the diff? Which would mean a ka turbo would rock. haha Iff its the r200 he should not be blowing anything unless it was installed wrong not the right fluids cenario.

Rebuilding a KA and turboing it woudl cost the same as getting ssr stuff wouthout getting sr oem parts for the standard replacement before drop.

I say KA. With close to 400 hp on either motor, parts will break. Much easier/cheaper to replace parts on a KA, than to have to order everything from Japan when they die on an SR.

first of all, do a search, there was a good discusuion about this on the general forum about a week and a half ago. Second do a search... Third, you wouldnt have to rebuild anything on the ka to run boost. you CAN and it has been done to run boost on a stock ka. Although you would prolly need a intercooler, intake, all that basic stuff, and prolly a new exhaust for breathing reasons... But your best bet. Do a search.
