i think the straight-pipe-esque buddyclub is awesome.and i like the simplicity of the oval muffler catback that crystal body yokohama makes for ae86....if someone made somthing like that for s13, id buy it in a minute

Oval for me all the way looks more stealthy and not a cop magnet... And if u have a really low car it won't smack as much than canister style Granted that the oval you pick is not like greddy which I'm opinion is a little to big but man its sound sweety

Okay, go with a canister. Ovals look stupid. Just don't get too big of a canister, those also look stupid.

Better?

Wait a minute, when you say oval body muffler, are you talking about the muffler itself or the tip(s)?

If you're talking about an oval tip, yuck. But if you're talking about the muffler, there's so many choices that you should post the one you're thinking of. Dual tips? Single tip? etc...

I vote for oval, I have the Circuit Sports exhaust on my car, I got pulled over last fall, and the cop tried to tell me my exhaust was illegal. I told him it was a "factory style exhaust". He just replied " Really ?" and let me go. He didn't know the difference. I am really happy with it. Here is a picture of it on my car

if its a street car, oval. much lower profile, fewer ricer thieves looking at your car. fewer cops looking as well.

if its a track car, just get an ebay catback w/canister. best bang for the buck.

^ Magnaflow seems to be the norm if you're looking for just a muffler.

More Pictures of your Car please! You can post them in my thread. Also i need to know how the fitment was on your exhaust? and if you got new exhaust hangers? If you would happen to have any sounds clips i would really appreciate it.Also can be posted in my thread. What are the Full wheel and tire specs on your car please? ^^Do the tips shine when they are clean or have they been dulled by the constant heat and change in temperature?

OP, What kind of look and sound are you looking for when it comes to your car?I vote oval, I have had my fun with canister type on my lancer. I want to try and stick with something a little more close to stock but flows like an aftermarket.

What exhausts did you have in mind? Post more pictures!

That is the kind of style i like. I think a canister on that would throw off the cleanliness it had going for it.

Ghasty

Ghast, I will be taking some more pictures tomorrow and get you the link to my build thread. The rims are Rota Grid Offroads, 16x8.5 +10 offset, I cant remember the tire specs off the top of my head but I believe they are 225/50 R16's. The exhaust fit perfectly, it tucked up nicely into the body and it sounds great. I will probably get new exhaust hangers just because mine are kind of worn out but they keep it up for the time being, unfortunately I don't have a way to record the sound of it but it is a nice deep tone that is not too loud. I am very happy with it. The tips do shine up, the picture I posted was before I cleaned up the car. They have not changed color since I put it on there a year ago. Here is the link to my build thread. If you want specific pictures that aren't there just let me know. zer...hread

To the OP, sorry for going off topic.

Since nobody has mentioned it, Canisters are louder.

Oval exhausts tend to be quieter.

It all has to do with design.

Do you want to have a loud, "look at me" exhaust? If so, go canister/n1 style.

If you want a nice reformed sound, go with an oval can.

after having a canister, while it looks nice it has no effect on reducing sound. prett much a damn straigt pipe. also its definately attractive to the cops and could make your car look like a ricer to the general population.

i would love to switch to something more stock ish, i would get the oval or a dual tip like BRM.
