I'm a bit confused with the way the election is going. I probably speak for most Americans in that I don't really know much about either of the candidates. What I'm looking for is an easy list that I can compare the relevant issues for both major party candidates. Obama's speech was outstanding, but I feel it was a lot of rhetoric. I'm swaying towards McCain...but I don't want a repeat of the Bush Administrations.

Can anyone help?

I'm looking for a quick, easy to read list like:

Obama:-issue 1 -stance-issue 2 -stance-issue 3 -stance

McCain:-issue 1 -stance-issue 2 -stance-issue 3 -stance

Good luck.

You'd be better off reading every post in this forum, and you'd STILL be fairly undecided.

Really, neither side has "laid down the law" on how they'd handle a lot of key issues, and the reality is, they may not.

Definitely watch the debates as well.

It should be interesting...Obama is one hell of a speaker...not sure on his debate skillz though.

I was hoping for a sticky-type thread that everyone can post up info about each candidate.

QFT, my friend, QFT!

I agree, you'll not ever really get a true grip on what the candidates are aiming for unless you actually watch their speeches, and the debates.

I also wish you luck with your search.

Good to see you over here joe! We always like new people and the opinions they bring.

There was such a list comparing the two economically awhile back. I'll try and find it. Otherwise, your best bet is to go to each candidate's website for those lists and stances.

:Mod note:Joe posted asking for help with the candidates stances on the issues. ALL of topic flame inciting comments have been removed. Joe deserves his answer, not a free-for-all.

The question is where do we find the candidates stances on the issues.

Barack ObamaIssue: Gas Tax - Stance: Depends on when, IL senate or U.S. senate?

Issue: Off Shore Oil Drill - Stance: Depends on when, before or after polls shot up.

Issue: Abortion - Stance: Depends on how much he gets paid. Low wage like IL Senate would get the vote 'Present'.

Issue: Gun Control - Stance: All for it because he's afraid of red-neck hicks like Cheney.

***religion is not a subject we wish to discuss here at Nico****/mod

Issue: Foreign Policy - Stance: Depends on who he gives speeches to. For soccer-moms, he'll talk with Iran w/o pre-conditions. For Jews, he'll war Iran. As for the Iraq war, he's for monthly troop pull out until things got better, where he would 'refine' the strategy.

Issue: Tax cuts - Stance: He'll slam tax on big oil, and anyone above $250K household income, including small business owners.

Issue: Energy - Stance: He's all for corn ethanol. Makes no mention of Brazilian sugar or algae fuel.

Issue: Health - Stance: Recently had the idea to mandate health care for all childern. Currently trying to adopt Hillary's supplemental insurance and mandatory insurance with cap based on income, which he blasted as 'national health care'.

That's actually pretty accurate.

Truthfully though, it's so hard to discern the facts from the fluff.
