canadian spedo-will it work for the jdm

ok, so if i buy a canadian 240, bc they have the kmph insted of the mph, will that work for the jdm engine and comp, or will it have the same problems as the usdm spedo? bc i would have no problem reading the small numbers on the gauge if it will save me some problems in the future.
