Nissan Canada has a roof rack that looks really nice on the car:http://nissan.ca/en/vehicles/v....html

and has additional pieces that you can add:

Does anyone recognize these? Are these made by someone else like Thule?? They don't seem to be available through Nissan USA.

What are you planning to carry up there?

In my case, I'm planning on carrying bicycles, so I'm going with a trailer hitch with a 1 1/4" receiver and a hitch mount bicycle rack on the back. Hidden Hitch, Curt and Draw-Tite are all making trailer hitches for the Versa. I have no desire to be picking up bikes and putting them on top of any car.

You can always get a cargo basket that fits a trailer hitch receiver, too. These days you're only really stuck with an empty roof rack affecting aerodymanics and gas mileage if you plan on carrying something like kayaks. Otherwise you can go with the trailer hitch and plug in whatever carrier you need when you need it.

Not as conspicuous and sexy as a roof rack but more practical as far as I'm concerned.

Some surfboards (usually one, but once in a while 2 or 3).

Roof rack looks like your only practical option, then. Hopefully there will be competition soon among companies that will bring down the price for you.

The closest I could get on the site was a Removable Roof Rack

This attractive, black satin powder coat removable roof rack is durable and corrosion resistant. It is easy to install and uninstall and securely holds all Nissan roof rack attachments (see the full line of available roof rack attachments in the “All Line” section). The locking feature provides further security for your outdoor gear. http://nissan.ca/en/vehicles/v...heels

Well, both Thule and Yakima have roof racks that will fit the rain gutters on the Versa, so you could always go aftermarket. However, neither they nor Nissan have a rack that will carry more than two surfboards at a time, so two is the maximum you can carry. Just go with whatever you can find cheapest.

I had a Thule on my previous cars, so that's probably what I'll go with, if just because all my accessories are fitted for their square bars.
