Canadian EX-35 Pricing...

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

We've been looking at the 2008 Infiniti EX35 to replace our aging Jetta and are wondering what kind of pricing Canadians are getting on this car?

I've looked up the CCC website and there is a $5000 cashback from manufacturer ($2000 if you finance through Infiniti). Are dealers offering good deals (close to invoice before the cashback) since there seem to be a lot of 2008's still left? Anyone purchased one recently willing to share their pricing?

Thanks!!!

For sure you'll get a very good deal especially in these times.

I got almost CAN$3100. back in Oct 08. If that was Nov or Dec I'm sure I could've gotten more! See post here:

zerothread?id=376547

you should at least get idk maybe 4-5k off! especially if you grab an 08. just make sure you are firm with your offer and be ready to walk out if you dont get what you want...trust me in this economic climate they want your business!

Thanks for the information. Infiniti Canada is offering $5000 rebate on cash purchases & $2000 on lease/financed purchases right now. I hoping to get close to invoice and then apply the rebate to the purchase.

Given the economic conditions and the glut of deals on the market, I'm hoping the dealer will want to make a deal. I'm not sure what the dealers track record is in this department (I'm in Victoria), but if they are not willing, I'll try Vancouver.

Hello, I am from Regina, and have been lurking on this forum for a few months trying to learn about the EX. I currently have an 06 325CI with the M sport package. I have the desire to go back to a Japanese company as opposed to continuing on with BMW.

I test drove the EX today and I am quite impressed. Way more vehicle than what I have now.

Initial talks with the dealership for what I want is:

White, with the Journey and Premium package. The cost I was quoted if I leased is $44K with $5K down and $585 per month. The cost for paying cash is $41K plus Sask taxes.

The problem right now is there are no white, silver or grey units in western canada. In order to get what I want the cost would increase to get it from down east. The 09's are not out yet and pricing has not been announced. So basically the pricing sounds good, but there isn't a vehicle to buy.

There was no mention of Infiniti's cash back option for paying cash. What do you guys and gals feel would be an appropriate offer if paying cash would be? I guess some of this would depend on the 09 pricing and incentives or suggestions.

Keep in mind, Sask has not be deal the same economic blow as other provinces. We are the new upcoming Alberta.

Thanks everyone!

I've been told that the 09's are not out yet and will not be in for another month or so - and I'd think that some of the current incentives may shrink or disappear when they come out. For the 08's, here's the MSRP and Canadian Invoice prices for the EX-35.

MSRP (Invoice in Brackets)

Base: $40,400 ($36,949)Journey: $1,600 ($1,423)Premium (includes Journey): $4,700 ($4,181)Nav (includes Premium): $7,950 ($7,071)Tech (includes Nav): $9,650 ($8,584)Freight: $1,650 ($1,650)

So based on the above numbers, the MSRP for White with Premium is: $ 46750 (Base + Premium + Freight)And the invoice cost of your White with Premium is $ 42780

And you need to deduct the manufacturers rebate - $2000 if financing, $5000 if paying cash.

If you end up deducting the rebate (I'm using $2000), the numbers for your car work out to be $44750 MSRP and $41299 Invoice. All the dealer is giving you is $750 off the price of the car - not a good deal for you in any case. What I would do is try to get the dealer to accept between $500-$1000 over the invoice minus the rebate. In you case that would be between $41800 and $42300. If you are paying cash, I would deduct an additional $3000 from the price.

I've got a quote from the dealer for $900 over invoice on a fully loaded EX35 and you should be targeting the same sort of numbers.

BTW, a lot of the EX35's in stock have more options (i.e. Nav or Tech). If you are willing to take an EX35 with Nav or Tech, you should find more in Western Canada. My dealer is getting a Silver next week but it is all optioned up. There may be less availability of cars with premium, so to get the best deal possible you may want to choose another colour or take more options. Additionally, shipping the car from another dealer may increase the dealers cost of the vehicle (they have to pay additional freight).

BTW, as for Sask being the upcoming Alberta - this should not be a factor in your negotiations. The state of the economy in Canada is not good and manufacturers are having a tough time selling cars across Canada. There is a good reason why Infiniti has delayed arrival of their 09 EX35's - they have a lot of unsold 08's across Canada and they will need to get rid of those soon.

Hope that helps.

EXceptional :D

Dr. Bombay, I appreciate your time spent in your message. Thanks very much.

I am a bit confused, so possibly you can help clarify.

Your figures aren't working out for me, I believe the difference is the 1600 MSRP for the journey package, as you have to get journey if you want the premium package.

The price quoted for paying cash is 46650 incl tax, so that is 41,900 for journey and premium. I am leaning towards paying cash at this point.

Are you saying that is to much and not a good deal?

Also, my budget is at the $45K mark, so even though I would love the nav and tech packages I am not sure that I can jump the extra money.

I am willing to wait the month or so if the 09's come out then, but what I see you are saying the 09's won't have the same incentives because of the volume of 08;s still available. ie $5K off

I guess since I am being a bit thick can you lay it out for me.

What would the appropriate price be for white, journey and premWhat would the appropriate price be for white, and all packages, (less the custom leather) journey, prem, nav and tech

I am willing to go with a silver but the dealership checked and here was nothing available. I will not go to any of the dark colours.

HondaGal,

The package pricing I mentioned above includes the enclosed packages - e.g. the Premium package includes the Journey Package. I've made the changes in my original response.

In your case, the cost of the Premium & Journey is $4700 (invoice $4181) over the base price of the vehicle. Here are the actual numbers:

Base: For the 08's, here's the MSRP and Canadian Invoice prices for the EX-35.

MSRP InvoiceBase: $40,400 $36,949Premium: $4,700 $4,181Freight: $1,650 $1,650------------------------------------------Total: $46,750 $42,780White: $ 285 $285 (The White colour is a $285 option)Rebate: - $5,000 - $5,000-------------------------------------------Final: $42,035 $38,065

The cost of the car to the dealer is $38065 - I would start the bargaining at $38500 and not pay more than $39000 (taxes not included). Your dealer is obviously asking for the best deal for him ($41,900), which is about $2900 more than I would pay for the car.

For a car with the Tech Package: MSRP InvoiceBase: $40,400 $36,949Tech: $9,650 $8,584Freight: $1,650 $1,650------------------------------------------Total: $51,700 $47,183White: $ 285 $285 (The White colour is a $285 option)Rebate: - $5,000 - $5,000-------------------------------------------Final: $46,985 $42,468

For this combo, I start bargaining @ $42,900 and not pay more than $43,500 (cash offer, not including taxes). If you decide to take financing from Infiniti, you need to add $3000 to the above figures.

Hope that helps.

P.S. I had made a calculation error in my previous post - hopefully, this one is free of any errors.

I would think it'd be the exact opposite.

Once the '09 vehicles are available, Infiniti would have to maintain or even offer BETTER incentives on the '08 models because there'd be more vehicles selling into the same market. The only problem would be that the longer you wait, the narrower your choices (for colour, packages, etc), as inventory of existing units dwindle.

Cheers,David

A warm Canadian welcome to NICO's EX forum, HondaGal!!

I must say, though, it's kinda confusing to have a "Honda" nick from a "BMW" owner joining an "Infiniti" forum (and about to buy an Infiniti)!!

Cheers,David

I meant that the incentives would not be available on the 09's. You are correct in the fact that the incentives on the 08's would be kept(if not made sweeter), but your selection would be limited to whatever's available for the 08's.

haha...

Actually I am a true honda person. I also own a S2000, and when I got on the s2000 message boards I used this user ID and it has stuck with me.

Thanks everyone for your help and it gives me some very good thoughts to go forward.

Since my local dealer has nothing, two blacks, the way I see it is I might as well contact the other dealers myself, because I would have to pay the shipping anyways. So, a flight to Edmonton, Calgary etc is not that big of a deal and likely less for me to go pick up the car cheaper.

I have been thinking that if there was any possibility of getting a white with the full packages, especially at the price Dr. Bombay suggested to start with that is very doable for me.

I have found a white EX out of province. I am not sure my negotiating skills are good, however the dealerships I dealt with today were not suffering from economic times.

The EX is white, with all packages, including custom leather, and they through in the all weather mats.

The price is $44,588.

So if this is not a good deal call me a girl, and I will enjoy my new ride, when I can get it.

That's good to hear, dealing with dealerships and salesmen and being a girl can be a challenge.

The custom leather is only $600 more so in order to get the white I did as Dr. Bombay suggested and opened my search to a unit with more options; however I didn't anticipate buying all options

Thanks to everyone, and I want to say you all are super friendly to newbies.

HondaGal,

Glad you found one in white - when do you pick it up? That's a pretty good deal on the car - with the luxury package it comes close to the range mentioned.

Post some pics when you pick it up!

Right now I am trying to decide the best way to get the car. It is in Edmonton, so I am looking at flying or driving up and then driving the EX and maybe my dad would drive my current car home. The cost of fuel, hotel, 9 hrs on the road, 10hrs on the way back to ensure break in, food.

I have asked the dealer to get a price on brining the car down on a truck. If this cost is similar to what it would cost to fly, drive, then I will have it trucked down.

So when do I get the car... I have no idea
