As far as I know, the same bulletin should apply. I've dug up the latest revision of the recall dated December 20, 2013, NTB11-064h R1107: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5mpmm ... sp=sharing

Thank you Towncivilian, that bulletin update is great. I know you think that it should apply here In Canada, however it seems to be state specific.I really feel uncomfortable entering the dealership not knowing that it does apply for sure . Could you possibly look deeper into this for me.I also have been searching all over the net for this info but I can't find anything maybe with your sources you can do better than I could. I can't even find an e-mail address or an actual number to call Nissan North America or Nissan Canada regarding this type of info request, thanks again respectfully yours.

You can try calling Nissan Canada at 1-800-387-0122. I'll ask around for a Canadian TSB. I did look it up on the NHTSA site but found nothing relating to Canada, but it was helpful nonetheless since I found the most current revisions of the bulletins. :)

Hey forlon4,

The strut recall is Transport Canada recall #2011165. Link is: http://www.tc.gc.ca/pl7x6.

Just a heads up, if Nissan inspects your Pathy and deems it unrepairable, their insurer may take it off the road and offer you a payout instead. Not sure if that'll affect your decision or not... though from what I hear they payouts aren't too bad. "Insurance" value versus "black book" value.
Recall Date 2011/04/21
Notification Type Safety Mfr
System Structure
Manufacturer Recall Number R177 & R178
Units Affected 74,983
Category SUV
Recall Details
On certain vehicles operated in areas of heavy road salt usage during winter months, a mixture of snow/water and salt may enter an assembly location hole in the upper strut housing, causing water to collect at the mating surface of the strut housing panel and the inner hood ledge assembly. Over time, this snow/water and salt intrusion may result in corrosion of the strut tower housing structure. If the vehicle continues to be driven in this condition, the strut housing may crack and pull away from the inner hood ledge assembly. Should the strut housing separate and contact the steering column upper shaft, the steering shaft could break. A loss of steering control could result in a crash causing property damage and/or personal injury. Correction: Dealers will inspect the strut housing and, if no corrosion or only minor surface corrosion is present, an anti-corrosion seal will be applied. If moderate corrosion is present, resin patches will be applied in addition to the sealant. If there is evidence of more significant corrosion, a metal reinforcement plate will be used to reinforce the strut housing assembly. In instances where it is impossible to repair the vehicle, Nissan will provide an appropriate remedy.

Thanks ever so much DENSETSU ! Right on the mark. I don't know why the US has so much stuff available on this even Transport Canada is vague on the description of the failure , and recall.Have you tried pursueing this or do you know of anyone in Canada that has. Any advice? I'm going this route as my 2002 Pathy seems to be falling apart , literally. Nov 10/13 Brake failure, two wheel cylinders replaced and steel brake line repaired in passenger wheel well , strut tower area rot out. Dec 26th/13 front lower ball joints, Moog problem solvers installed. March 14/14 Alternator , second replacement. After having the brakes fixed and inspecting the wheel well strut tower area , holy crap rotting out every where!!!!Now speedo out , ABS has lit up and transmission in safe mode , 2 wheel drive only .Possible big buck repair , only to have my struts towers fall out !! I don't think so , I'm in Winnipeg , thanks Bro !

Sounds like you pulled the short straw on Pathys, from my experiences they're pretty solid! Any idea what caused the issues with the brakes, transmission, and electrical? How much salt do they use on the roads in Winnipeg? In Edmonton it's mostly gravel and sand they put down in the winter.

I did a quick inspection of my front suspension and didn't see any rust. If I eventually see something appear, I'll probably bring it in... but my Pathy has been pretty solid so far and I wouldn't mind keeping it another 5+ years if I can.

Only know of two other guys who have Pathfinders, both have work vehicles and don't drive them much. Haven't heard much from them on the recall issues.

I'm trying to attach images of the rust, duh , don't know how apparently. I didn't buy this new but it was like two yr. old with 30000k. Like new and in love!Black & rims ....mmmmmm Researched the vehicle at the time rated #1 with fore runner . Everything says go... so i did.I was about to say that it has actually been pretty good but now that I think more about it... I had to replace the blower motor( its just starting to whine again, man...) , the seat belts were also replaced as they stopped retracting the way they should. They were constantly left hanging out the doors and now there doing it again. When I was at Midas getting the brakes done the guy was telling me that the seals were leaking and valve covers. I didn't really notice it and doubted him but as I had to return for the same repair a month later and I was monitoring the vehicle now its all over the ground, yep its leaking oil from all over.Oh, also had to install a kit for seams that rotted out on the resonator $100 for muffler cement and 4 u shaped channels about3/8" wide by 12" long.Exhaust has rotted out, repaired and now the muffler. I guess your right that doesn't sound like a great deal. The short straw!!!!
