i was under the impression that all canadian 240's had a factory LSD, and in the US we only got LSD in the Hicas models. For S13 at least.

im from canada :rolleyes

and every 1991-1994 S13 has LSD regardless of model.

Some very very smart marketing guy decided canadian winters needed 2 wheel spin to help traction :D

well theres another way to find out if you have lsd or not...go to a road that is paved then put your car in neutral, rev it up to 5000 rpm then drop our clutch. Get out of the car, if you have two skid marks you are lsd equiiped :D if not then you have an open diff.

thats not a good test. cause open diff will spin both wheels up to certain hp.

yeah Ive left 2 marks with my open dif, not consistantly. Check a bunch of times also cut a few donuts. if theres only 1 mark an any of the above then its open. Id say jack it up and spin the wheels but Ive heard people say diff. things. Some say to spin the one wheel and the other spins the other way, and then some say they should spin the same.

well, both my wheels spin in the same direction in neutral. this is a canadian 93 LE coupe. my brother has a 91 hicas, he was arguing with me this afternoon. hes for sure my car doesnt have lsd. the only type of lsd that nissan ever used is the vlsd type. not til spec v helical lsd. so is this canadian 240sx have lsd a myth?

240sx is supposed to have the vlsd:

"With transmission in neutral, spin one wheel by hand and the other spins the same direction. Both spin very freely.

With transmission in gear (driveshaft fixed), the wheel is much more difficult to spin, plus the other wheel rotates in the OPPOSITE direction.

With one wheel fixed (someone holding it in this case, could also be on the ground), either in neutral or in gear, it is very difficult to turn the other side at all, but it will turn given enough force"
