My ultimate goal for my '91 FB is to have the CA18DET, with some minor suspension (shock/spring combo from PDM most likely) and minor cosmetic work.
Well, I'm trying to do my homework. I lack the facilities and technical knowledge to do an entire engine swap, so I am asking if anybody knows:
- Of a place in Canada to get a CA18DET. I know of jspecauto.com only- A place to install it. I know that Lucky Star auto in Toronto does SR20 swaps, but I've heard mixed results of the work, quality and friendliness of the people. I'm aware that there are some CA18DET's in Quebec, but I'm not sure where/how to find them!
What I'm thinking so far is $5000 CDN for the total install, including parts, labour, etc. Does this sound right? This works out to about $3500 USD which is about what unstable-hybrids is asking. Alas, they are too far away to do a swap.
