Canada DVD player issues

Question for any Canadian's with the DVD package. I can play some DVD's Fine, but they have only english on package... US disk??? then other moves that have french on the package don't seem to play? Anyone else had issues with playing DVD's? I've only tried 3 DVD's so far.

Let me know if anyone else has had similar problems.

DVD's tried. - superbad no go, has french on cover- Simpon's movie, no go, has french on cover- Dave mathews live at... works fine, no french on cover

I just happend to notice this today, not sure if this is the actual problem, all are 100% normal DVD's bought in store, nothing burn't etc.
